Harleigh and Slate’s frenemies to lovers story is my favorite by Lani Lynn Vale! The story offers a wide variety of emotions to include laughter, betrayal, sadness, sacrifice, deceit and family support. The straight-forward, sheltered but feisty Harleigh cracked me up, but Slate’s observant, protective instincts, hardworking yet introverted tendencies made them the perfect people for one another. Aiden Snow and Kendall Taylor delivered an excellent performance of the characters making their narration an enjoyable listening experience 🎧📚Worth the credit!🥰😍🤩🥰😘

When opposites attract...

Slate was in prison when he first saw Harleigh...and he was attracted to the petite woman...except she was married...or so he thought. Then, a few years later, he’s out of prison and wouldn’t you know that the pint sized woman is his neighbor. In fact, Harleigh has been enjoying her naps in the hammock on Slate’s property and now he’s back and has the nerve to tell her that she’s trespassing! So starts the battle between this pair. Takes a while to get an HEA but the journey is mostly funny, with a wee bit of drama mixed in. Good read/listen.

Sad this series is over. all the main characters are wonderful. read in order and start with Dixie wardens if you want a lot of entertainment!

What a way to close out a series!

Noooooooooooo! I can’t believe this series is over. I have loved every single one of these stories and couples. I think this one and Book 8 - SNITCHES GET STITCHES were my faves, but they were all fantastic with a slightly different set of tropes and feel.

Harley is the prickly neighbour who can’t stop using Slate’s hammock to sleep in. He’s just gotten out of prison where he served time for killing his partner/fiancee’s murderer. We are treated to public shenanigans, a protective hero, a stong heroine, a trip to Disney World, and a little crossover from Book 8 with a touch of psych0!

Lani loves to interconnect her stories and this one reminds us that Slate takes a bullet for Harley from the psych0 in SNITCHES GET STITCHS. Are you still with me? It’s not that complicated though, and all these books are true standalones, so feel free to start the series wherever you like.

Get ready for some laughter, emotions, found family, lust, and plot!

It’s always a pleasure listening to Kendall and Aiden. They have the accents down and bring all the emotions. They are a stellar narration combo.

I smashed through the last six books in this series back-to-back. I don’t think I’ve ever done so many from the same series back-to-back with no break. This series is just THAT good and so addictive.

Slate and his mate

I loved this story and the audible made it perfection. I have listened to it 3 times before I could stop to write this review. Slate’s story just touched me. I know it’s going to be a favorite audible listen again and again. It has a quirky zany female who brings Slate back to living after his incarceration. Excellent narrators. HEA. This author writes really good stories that end with an HEA, makes you want to read more in whatever series you just read BUT she does NOT use the devious trickery of leaving the reader with a cliffhanger for 4-6 months waiting for the next book. Highly recommend this author and especially this book.
