About this listen

When the raptors come out of sinkholes across the United States, Deandra Antigone Merriweather’s elder brother Johnny sees the chaos as opportunity. Overrun by prehistoric beasts of increasing size and savagery, the world has completely gone to hell, but he doesn’t suspect it will stay that way, and he wants to be a rich man by the time things get back to normal.

Though less optimistic about the future, Deandra thinks it might be a good idea to have some money stashed away just in case, if only so she can one day get away from the abusive Johnny for good. Together, they embark on a perilous journey across the wasteland to rob the mountain home of a corrupt California senator. But the home isn’t empty.

The senator has stayed behind to live like a king in this post-apocalypse world. With specially trained raptors, his sadistic wife, and sexually stunted son, all manner of misery awaits Deandra within the house’s walls.

All the while, the outside world crumbles under the trampling feet of monsters long thought extinct.

Worth the listen

An interesting twist on the apocalyptic end. Well developed for a short listen. More language than I would expect. Narration by Sean Duregger is excellent as always.

A World Like No Other

This was a wonderful read that takes the listener on a journey through a post apocalyptic world that is like no trope you’ve seen before. A world so grim that only the strong and sinister can survive. We can only hope the journey doesn’t end here.

Fun story and great narration!

Extinction Peak was a fun look at the apocalypse, where the world is engulfed with dinosaurs. There's lots of action, violence, and gore. There is a great cast of strong characters and the female survivors ruled. And you gotta love a whacked out politician at the helm of it all doing everything you know is wrong. Sean Duregger knocks another one out of the park with the narration keeping me even more engaged. His energy and voices really bring a different level of life to the story and I think he made it even better.

Kill or be eaten!!💜

Well this was certainly an interesting story. I loved the whole dinosaur return as well as the “life on the run” storyline.
That said, I was surprised at all the side storylines that, IMO, didn’t really contribute to the overall story. It was like several stories combined into one without any back story. I feel like this could have been a bit longer with some more information on characters and circumstances such as, the girls in the tank, and the crazy senator etc.
We are also left wondering “what the heck?” So, I’m thinking another book in this series may be in order? Or we can just use our imagination and call it a day. Either way, although it sounds like I didn’t like this book, I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. I just needed more content I suppose.
The narration was absolutely fantastic. Sean Duregger’s performance was wonderful.
I recommend this book but the HEA is left to your interpretation lol.

Different Apocalypse

This is a very different apocalyptic book it has raptors/dinosaurs who come out of the massive sinkholes. Enjoyed the character of Deandra, who is a strong woman, Johnny (not so much) as they venture the wastelands to rob the senator’s home. There is gore, violence and sexual situations as well as raptors. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. Thank you

A darker Jurassic world

Sean brings to life Magnums darker version of a world overrun by jurassic life. The story is well written the characters are relatable and easy to connect to, easy to root for and easy to hate. The action is well written and keeps
You in its grip as the story develops. Highly recommend for
Fans of horror and jurassic worlds mixing

EXTINCTION PEAK

The world is doomed and only certain types of people are still fighting for survival. EXTINCTION PEAK by Lucas Mangum is a very entertaining read with plenty of action and the narration by Sean Duregger is top notch and made for a fun entertaining audiobook.

Dino-mayhem

this was another great book by Lucas Mangum. A simple premise, dinosaurs coming out of sink holes to kill, was taken to a new level. Yes, this book has tons of prehistoric beasts, but more than anything it's a character driven story. Mangum creates memorable moments and situations, keeping this story moving at a feverish pace. The action and death scenes were gory and perfect and you didn't know who was safe.

The narrator was also excellent. his range was superb and he was able to pull off unique voices, especially for the female characters.

Midnight Grindhouse at It's Best

Sean Duregger brings the narration fire like always. You can tell Sean is a fan of audio books. He's not monotone and has fun with his voice. Doesn't do a lot of characters meaning he's not a voice actor and doesn't make this sound like a cast production, but he does enough characters to keep your ears happy and your attention on the story. Lucas really brought it with this story. I've enjoyed everything I've read from him. He's a fan of a lot of things, and he showcases that love in this book. This is the best Midnight Grindhouse movie you have never seen. This is apocalypses, zombies but replace the zombies with dinosaurs, women in prison and more.  Rather you read this or check out the audio book you need to experience this story. That's for sure. Don't sleep on this one, tons of fun and worth your time. Two Thumbs Up 5 Stars.
