About this listen

Seventy years ago, the world ended in chaos.

Portals appeared on Earth, forcing everyone to make a choice: Enter or die. However, if they managed to survive through all twelve planets in the system, they would be allowed to return home. Humanity fought bitterly and, in the end, succeeded, but the cost was high.

Nate lost everyone he’s cared about, and after stepping through the final portal, he makes a shocking discovery. Earth is part of the system and what’s left of humanity is too weak to go home. Returning to the scene of the battle, Nate finds the unexpected–a new portal. A single step takes him back in time, to the day when the end of the world began.

Given the chance to fix the mistakes of his past, Nate will do all he can to ensure that humanity–and more importantly, his family–is strong enough to survive this time around. Manipulating events won't be easy. Knowledge is power but, more importantly, in the System of Twelve, power is power.

Rewriting history was never on Nate’s to-do list, but seeing as he’s the only viable candidate, he’ll give it his best shot or die trying.

End of the World is a progression fantasy with GameLit and tower climber elements.

Perfect in every sense

exactly what I was looking for. great narration. I didn't know an audio book could seem so realistic. BUT THE SECOND BOOK. I neeeeed it. NEED. I'm so sad it isn't out yet to listen. I feel itchy having to wait for it. if anyone is reading this, you have to listen to this book. I just found my new favorite series and that's something I never thought I'd say again.

Great story … some plot problems

1. A great story and I will continue the series. But Aaron Oster will need to upgrade his writing.

For example:

-At the first town, Nate has to pay a very high price for only 2 units of water because water is so scarce in that area. But in the next sentence he goes to take a full bath at an Inn for cheap? That’s nonsensical.

-If a human enemy is killed, why can’t they just put the body and loot directly into their storage ring like they can do with literally anything else in the world? They have to leave it on the ground and hope nobody loots it before they can come back later? Nonsense.

-Why didn’t Nate make Freya a set of lightening sloth boots too? He only had a set made for himself even though he had the extra material and could have easily helped her at the same time. She was literally right there with him.

-Reduce the MULTIPLE times the author over uses the phrase “in other words…”. Communicate directly and clearly the first time.

-Worst of all, our MC is incapable of convincing or influencing the leaders of the human city to see the best path to save the human race within the time span of a single conversation so he immediately goes to plan B: murder people and destroy the city! That makes no sense. The best way to keep humans safe is to literally murder them? Aaron Oster, you nearly killed your own epic story with that one and now you have a MAJOR morality problem to correct in the next book. Very Machiavellian and a disappointing story choice.

2. Justin Thomas James. Tiana Camacho and Jeff Hays were excellent storytellers! Thank you

Solid 4.6-4.7 star rating litrpg

Yes I agree that while listening to End of the World it did give the feeling of Reborn Apocalypse. So thanks for your review friend I’ll say it was helpful in my decision and vote for your review.
I’ll add for others that this story is it’s original for its own sake. I did like Reborn Apocalypse more. Though I think if you enjoyed that there’s a good chance you’ll enjoy this also. As long as the expectations are being managed Atleast in regards to the mc. So far he hasn’t been the brightest. Not dumb just kinda average. The story is entertaining though.

The power progression is a little different but I enjoyed it.
There aren’t any stats such as strength agility. It comes down to choosing magi/cultivator. Then after choosing either path there are many other paths and upgrades, techniques, spells, skills. Dépendant on each persons choices and path points they have to spend which is also the currency for everything. There is also a leveling system which is referenced as ranks. Every time someone ranks up it increases the amount of mana for magi or the amount a cultivator can intake. Aswell as the density thus adding power to the effects of the abilities. So you can increase the strength of the same ability in two different ways by saving up path points and upgrading it in the shop as well as ranking up with xp. Not the ability itself just ones level. There more to it all but that should be plenty to give you an idea

Finally my recommendation for weather you’ll like this book is good if you like one of these books great if you like both.

Brutal, Straight-foward, and Thrilling

this was a twisted ride from start to finish. the way the character approaches the situations he's in reminds me of other characters but he has his own unique twist. for me, all the personality traits and quirks just kept me hooked and Freya and the rest if the female cast are done so well. not only written beautifully but brought to life with Vigor unlike most I've heard. hats off to everyone involved and I absolutely loved it. can't wait for book 2!!!

Surprisingly good!

I was not sure how I was going to feel about this book. However I really liked it. I like how things are changing as Nate tries to change things. I love the SBT acting and music again as always. It helps give the story depth and I feel like at times I’m actually watching the book like a movie or tv show.
I’m curious to see how Nate’s meddling changes the time line and to see how the characters come together.

love hate relationship

it's a amazing story but I'm getting tired of the trope where th mc goes back in time and gets a team together but when they start questioning the mc and their knowledge the mc hits them with some b.s excuse or story. I'm like you can easily prove yourself buy naming major events and actions. but no the mc rather bear the burden causing misunderstandings and bigger problems . I'm just saying man if it was me I would tell someone

this was very different from the stories I usually listen to. Having said that, I actually really enjoyed the story. I am interested to see where this goes from here.
