cowboy romance ❤️

I am surprised how much I enjoyed this by the end and I'm glad I finished. The character's were very lovable and it's a low angst listen. This story got better and better with a romantic and lovely finish.

🥵 Alex Kydd performance as Shooter was 🔥 The narration definitely kept me engaged during the slower start to this book and was well worth it in the second half of this book. I would listen to pretty much any MM romance he narrated now.

*In the first half of the book there are some editing issues in the writing (ie. repetiveness) and little moments of dead air in this recording but turning the speed to 1.05 eliminated this completely.

Such a perfect listen

Alex Kydd and Aaron Shedlock slayed this! This was another incredible story by Ashley James. Perfectly paced rivals to lovers. The spice!! Be care while driving. Definitely have new favorite narrators.

This was a sweet no angst story. The narrators did a wonderful job bringing the characters to life.

Rivals to Lovers Done Right

8 Seconds to Ride is one of my favorite cowboy MM books. It doesn’t sugarcoat the rodeo lifestyle, and it follows the characters on the rodeo circuit, which gives it a fresh setting and helps shed light on how life on the road affects relationships and both physical and mental health.

The rivalry between Shooter and Sterling is perfectly written. It gracefully toes the line of believable turmoil between the two MCs without fully crossing over to anything unhealthy. Ashley James is excellent at writing lovable, flawed characters. This is probably the only instance where a guy can say “it ain’t gonna suck itself” and you don’t want to punch him in the face. At least not that hard.

The fact that Shooter’s mental health is addressed adds bonus points to the story. Not just a professional athlete, but one carrying a family legacy, the pressure he is under could have easily been glossed over to make a lighter story. Instead, James recognizes how that pressure can overtake someone’s inner voice and affect not only their performance but their relationships. She also gives Shooter the courage he needs to step back and prioritize his mental health, proving that sometimes it takes more strength to ask for help than to ignore an issue.

This book fully encapsulates the grit of the cowboy lifestyle while still allowing for that heartwarming romance.

A very well written and story driven romance!
Shooter and Sterling, both competitive bronco riders , are intriguing and likeable characters!
The story is filled with fun , banter , compelling moments , warm and emotional times , and lots of steam !
Both narrator's were enjoyable to listen to and only enhanced the story ! Alex Kydd's gritty, sexy tone definitely stands out !!

Happened upon this book. Very glad!!

This is a warm, funny love story based in the Bronco/cowboy way of life,. it's super spicy but in a good way and the 2 MM were easy to route for, & good group of friends for future book. Well worth a credit.

Amazing Narration

I love me a good Cowboy Romance and we love a cocky, confident man finally showing his soft side. And I definitely love when they fall first. This was my first Aaron Shedlock narration…but could literally listen to Alex Kydd talk for hours. Loved it

Bronc Riding Perfection!

This book had a couple of my favorite things. MM and Cowboys and I really enjoyed it! Shooter is a bit cocky, but I think that really worked as the relationship between him and Sterling developed. Sterling has the sweet, shy, inexperienced personality and it balanced really well with Shooters overconfident, cocky personality. I really enjoyed how Shooter ended up being really supportive of Sterling and their mutual connection as bronc riders was really good! I enjoyed the side characters and the story overall and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.

The audiobook is narrated by Alex Kydd and Aaron Shedlock, both are favorite narrators for me and they did a really great job on this story.

These Cowboys Made Me Swoon!

I absolutely loved this book from start to finish! Two professional rodeo cowboys who meet one night in a bar and the rest kicks off after that! I am head over heels in love with Shooter and Sterling. This book has all the spice to match the swoon worthy sweetness! The banter and chemistry between these two had me kicking my feet! And the amount of love they have for one another 🥹 It was perfect! The mental health representation in this book also made my heart so happy to see.
I listened to the audiobook while reading along and I cannot express just how much Alex Kydd & Aaron Shedlock made this entire reading experience one I will truly never forget. Their performances made me feel all the butterflies. I could feel all their emotions coming off the pages! I highly recommend you listen to this audiobook, it is phenomenal!!
