This is a Standalone Novel In a world of uncertainty, economic collapse and a breakdown of law and order, the fight for survival is all too real. Several months after the EMP struck, life as Detective Sarah Blackman knew it, has changed. Forced to make difficult decisions with a young child in tow, Sarah’s life is now a constant battle for survival in this land of diminishing morals and devastating consequences. The duo is quickly running out of basic necessities and know they won’t survive much longer without them, so they embark on a journey to the Great Lakes area in hopes of obtaining fresh water and an ample food supply to sustain them. Their journey will bring them face-to-face with degenerates and unsavory survivors. New choices will have to be made in order to secure their safety, but will those choices ultimately lead to their demise? Who can they trust in a land filled with opportunists and scoundrels?

seems like it was written like a 12 yr old and AI narration. not worth the time

wooden stiff narration

I kept thinking the timing was wrong and flat. which kept throwing off the rhythm of the story. didn't realize that it was a virtual voice until the end. Will make sure in the future to notice the narrator and not select a book that is narrated virtually. really bad.

I liked the characters and how they interact .

the ai reader didn't do the voices as well as human. I just like a human reader better.

AI voice isn’t bad but this story is

The perpetual mention of the Great Lakes proves that this author has never been there. There are no orange trees for a thousand miles of the Great Lakes. He also speaks of the lakes like they are a recreational area when you actually have to travel hundreds of miles to go from the southern most lake to the northern most. Having read hundreds of post apocalyptic titles and there were just too many holes and inconsistencies. It had potential but just fell flat. Don’t stop writing though you’ll get there.

virtual voice is awful

virtual voice is terrible, it loses the moment and has poor effect. I'd like the option of real people doing the reading.

it sucked the writer knew nothing about survival and the apocalypse the writer knew nothing about doing the right thing the writer knew nothing about character build of any interest whatsoever a fat disappointment

The author should have read EMP books before writing this one.

poor story, good voice total waste of time, I'm glad it was free, I finished it hopping it would get better, but not.

Not enjoyable

No consistency in timeline. Poor plot. I had to stop listening, which rarely happens. Do not recommend!

It was so bad. Unimaginative & Ridiculous.

I tried. I got about half way through. The situations these characters found themselves in and their responses were absolutely ridiculous. I wanted badly to like the story and the characters and I kept thinking it just had to get better but it never did. A little girl with a special power to sense danger and adults that did not have a bit of sense. It was so so bad. I finally gave up.

A good book some lack of back story was a little disappointing but the story was good
