Determined to prevent the murder of more of her restaurant customers, which slayings will soon lead to a mob war, Esther tries to uncover the evil genius behind the deadly doppelgangsters. Along with a 350 -year-old sorcerer and an aging hit man, Esther delves deep into the world of wiseguys in pursuit of a ruthlessly mystical murderer.

Fun story!

I genuinely enjoyed listening to this story. The characters are well written, the storyline is interesting, and the narrators for the Graphic Audio version do an excellent job! I'm excited to listen to the next book in the series.

the story was good and really held my interest. The cast did a great job and really immersed you in the story. highly recommended.

Great Story

Narrator seemed spot on, the writing was interesting, and the storyline seemed intriguing. I also couldn't have predicted the end, which is always nice.

Excellent continuation of series. The cast for this series is very good. The actor for our MC is near perfect. There is plenty of humor with the plot development. I suggest giving this series a trial.

I thought book2 will be the same as book1 it’s really nice and will make you imagine the action

Mafia-lite … except for the F bombs

It seems this series will feature Esther, an aspiring actress with zero magical skills, who keeps coincidentally finding herself in the middle of a magical mystery. I enjoyed the dopplegangster mafia-magical mystery and the fish out of water fun as Esther and wizard Max find themselves neck deep in wiseguys and mob-lingo.

One minor annoyance was the F bombs, which felt off compared to the otherwise cozy feel. The opening chapter, with the mobsters dropping F bombs like machine gun fire, was particularly unnecessary.

I also am a touch disappointed at the meager use of magic. Two books in a row and the only magic involves the mystery. Here’s hoping for more razzle dazzle in book 3.

Esther is too stupid

This story is very interesting. The only issue is that the main female character is a stupid hot mess.
It is easier believing that the supernatural things are true, but that a sane police officer can find anything attractive about Esther is the hardest thing to believe. She seems crazy and unlikeable.
In this book the character of Lucky is charming and I would love it if he has his own series. I have to give up on this series thogh, as I can't stand the MF. Because of her stupidity the plot has to move slowly and all things explained in painful detail.
I really love the dramatized version of books and that was the only reason I tried this. The first two books were free, but I would not pay for the remainder of the series, as it's not worth it due to the annoying MF. Many reviewers don't have a problem with her, so try the first two books and if you can do it, then go ahead. I just can't.....

Not a bad story, not a great one either. A little bit corny a little bit funny but decent to kill some time.
