Good

The first book that started the “Hero Club Series” Soraya and Graham’s story Is “Stuck-Up Suit” by ViKeeland and Penelope Ward it took me forever to figure it out.
You don’t need to read the first book but if you want to....

Greer and Sebastian

A fun, entertaining, and sweet story. Gwyn McNamee is a new to me author, I was not disappointed. I enjoyed the endearing and beautiful journey Greer and Sebastian embarked on.
Narration was fantastic. Loved listening to this story.

frustrating

For some reason, this book stops playing on my Alexa device at the beginning of every. single. chapter.

Wen Ross' voice is so gravelly that I had to crank up the volume in order to be able to distinguish the words. He also seems to have a slight lisp. I'm finding the main character to be difficult to even like.

I'll probably finish the book, but the fact that I'm second guessing myself right now is a pretty good indicator of my current impression at the beginning of ch 7

note: I did have to tell Alexa to read my book at the beginning of every single chapter throughout. The book was okay, but not something to make me rush out to find more by this author.

Spoilers Ahead

The story was going along okay, not the best but far from the worst, when the MMC did something I wish I knew before I bought this audiobook. I wouldn't have purchased it. So for others like me, or others not like me who would purchase this book because of this, there is a scene where the MMC takes the FMC to a strip joint to help her relieve tension. His idea? To have a stripper dance for her in a VIP room while the MMC only has eyes for the FMC. FMC gets aroused and MMC fingers her. Not my idea of sexy or romance and it really torpedoed my enjoyment of this book.
This was shaping up to be a two star read until the FMC and MMC stop seeing each other and their relationship is revealed shortly after. They both understand that one of them would have to leave the team in order to be together and neither want to do so. The FMC believes the MMC to be selfish for not being willing to move to a different team for their relationship and takes it as a sign he doesn't care enough for her. Considering she is unwilling to leave her job for him, she's being incredibly hypocritical and holding him to a different standard than she would herself. She doesn't deserve for the MMC to give up the team when she's unwilling to sacrifice HER job for HIM.
Ultimately, the MMC retires early so he can be with the FMC and the epilogue confirms he misses hockey. Throughout the entire book, it is made clear how important hockey is to the MMC. The FMC doesn't consider leaving her career even ONCE for the MMC. I would have been fine with this ending if the FMC was willing to sacrifice her career for the MMC, but as a couple, they decided the MMC would retire instead. But no. She was ultimately the selfish one who didn't deserve the MMC, who loved her career more than him.

Turn off!

I was turned off by this story. Not only was the Hero way too full of himself, but the strip club scene made me stop listening for a while. It was only out of boredom without having another book downloaded yet that I resorted to turning it back on. Such a turn off. When you have to introduce other people into your early burgeoning sex life it is a very bad sign and not a turn on to most women. Maybe it is just me, but having a woman give me a lap dance in front of my sex partner doesn't turn me on and having my partner grope and fondle me to orgasm (not that it would get to that point) in said company would make me want to get up and walk out for good. Maybe if I was more comfortable in the full relationship and we decided to have a few laughs while spicing it up, but at the beginning? He said it was for her and not him, but are they kidding? Unless you have bi or lesbian tendancies do other women enjoy that? I don't. Don't get me wrong, I love the female form and all its beauty, but not a turn on. Maybe he should have tried a male stripper. No problems with the performance, but nothing could save this one for me.

Selfish choices almost risk it all

I was excited that Greer was a trailblazer in her career. She was the first female hockey head coach in a male league. The disrespect that her new star player Bash brought grated my nerves and so her attraction baffled me. It was embarrassing and I was praying she wouldn’t risk her job and reputation over sex with this one guy. I also found his treatment of her condescending. She is used to people making certain comments about her, she could take care of herself. She can also order her own steak. Bash was himself, a egotistical sports star but it was Greer who disappointed me in this book.

"This guy has an ego bigger than Grand Canyon"

Bash is one of the best player in the league but he is a hot head who plays dirty. He is transferred to Vegas which is an expansion team with the only female head coach Greer is a former Olympic star and determine to make a name for herself in a male industry. The chemistry between the two is obvious and hot. There is challenge as well as push and pull between the two. I was disappointed that Greer did not put Bash in place when he came to the team. I did not see the twist at the end coming.

Couldn’t seem to connect with characters

I just didn’t get the characters. He needed to be enrolled in anger management and I just didn’t believe a woman who had worked so hard and sacrificed so much would give in so easily when it could ruin her career and reputation. I only made it to chapter 10 and gave up.
