Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson with the help of Mark Twain attempt to foil the plans of an assassin and his many associates with their plans to kill the queen

Dr. Watson to the Front

Interesting story connecting in Mark Twain to Holmes & Watson. Kept me guessing til the end. Enjoyed Watson taking the spotlight in the story. The performance was good, but I thought Sherlock and Watson sounded a little too similar.

I need more books by this author!

Oh, this was a wonderful story, a perfect mesh between Sherlock Holmes and Mark Twain done through a wonderful Watson's voice.

I love that Watson has a prime spot in this tale (I love Watson, sue me!) and truly enjoyed the final battle between him, Twain and the killer.

Beautifully written, historically accurate and filled with suspense, this was a wonderful book. I hope the author will write more Holmes' stories :D

Sherlock Holmes is always great!

I loved this book! A great job with a surprise visit by an well known author! It is complicated, full of action. And it is an great example of Sherlock and Watson!

The narrator hit it perfect!

Wonderfully entertaining story

During the final preparations for Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee, Samuel Clemens appeals to Sherlock Holmes to uncover who is behind the threats on his life. As Holmes and Watson investigate and unravel the mystery, the conspiracy seems deeper than anyone suspected. The narration by Nick Crosby is excellent. I received a free audiobook code for my honest review.

Is it truly that difficult?

… to find a British narrator who is capable of a southern drawl? There are so many talented actors out there seeking employment I simply refuse to believe that if one if the job qualifications ware the ability to mimic Samuel Clemens’s accent, to begin with, it would prove impossible.

Such a simple thing.

Or do you really just not at all care about your American listeners and assume that all others would not be discerning enough to recognize the difference.

Either way: balderdash.

And due to the character defining nature of Mark Twain’s particular style of drawl, it significantly impairs the performance of this book to have a fabricated facsimile of the most generic US accent possible, attempting to bring this character to life.

The audiobook industry has a ways to go. Things like this just shouldn’t be an issue.

Slow

As Holmes fan I am always on the lookout for new reading matter. Since Sir Arthur left this world many years ago. New works are mere replicas. Some are excellent some poor.
in my opinion This one is dry and without the spark. A passable story and a plot that could've been great but just fizzled out.
Saved by a good narrator.
