About this listen

To celebrate the release of her novel Barefoot on Baker Street, Charlotte Anne Walters undertook the task of reading and reviewing one of the original Sherlock Holmes short stories every day until she had completed all 56. The reviews were posted daily on her blog and attracted viewers from all over the world. The reviews are full of humor and Holmesian insight, ending in a score out of 10 for each story. This book contains all 56 blogs plus additional material including reviews of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's four Holmes novels. Although it was a pleasure for a life-long Holmes admirer to re-visit the stories, trying to do this on top of holding down a busy full-time job and family commitments was a big challenge - resulting in some stressful but comical moments detailed in the blogs. Even Mr. Walters couldn't resist throwing in a few comments of his own. Charlotte is donating all her royalties from this publication to the Undershaw Preservation Trust, a charity striving to protect and restore the former home of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle - saveundershaw.com.

Very enjoyable!

Charlotte Anne Walters challenged herself to re-read, rate and review ACD’s 56 Sherlock Holmes stories in 56 Days. I found it fascinating when she summarized the books and the commonalities as well as adding her personal asides. It’s interesting how peoples tastes in books change over time. There is no dispute that Holmes is a fan favorite and this book is for all fans. I laughed at her description of her commute on the train as it was so similar to my experiences commuting in Washington DC. Luckily I didn’t have a blog to get out. The narration is excellent! I am going to find some of Ms. Walters other books now. I received a free audiobook code for my honest review.

If you love Sherlock Holmes, you'll love this book

This is aimed at those of us who love the Sherlock Holmes' canonical stories and who are never tired of chatting about them :D

The author reviews all the cannon as a challenge to herself and shares with us her thoughts about what things she liked and what things she didn't about them.

It's a really lovely book and I found myself nodding in agreement at most of the points Ms Walters does in it. We share, after all, a deep love for Watson *laughs*

If you, as me, can't ever have enough of Sherlock Holmes, this is a must-read ♥
