About this listen

Jason Morgan's life has taken a turn for the worse.

Once an able-bodied man, he is now confined to a wheelchair after a devastating car accident. Two experimental surgeries later, he still cannot walk. As a ward of the State, he longs for the freedom he once had and the ability to walk again.

Enter Games For Life, a gaming company that has developed a massive VRMMORPG system. With their groundbreaking pod technology, Jason is invited to test the system and explore the vast world of Destiny: a place where time and reality are not what they seem, and anything is possible.

At first, Jason is skeptical, but when he discovers he can walk again in the game, he is overjoyed. He starts to spend more and more time in the virtual world, making friends and building relationships he never thought possible.

However, as he delves deeper into the game, he begins to realize that there is more to it than he first thought. The fine print on the contract he signed becomes more important, and he discovers that he may be in over his head.

Adventure waits for no one, and Jason finds himself embroiled in a battle to save the game from a dangerous threat. With the help of his newfound friends, he must face down foes and solve puzzles to save not just the game but the world outside of it.

In the end, Jason discovers that Destiny is not just a game but a way of life. He learns to appreciate the people in his real life and the new ones he met in the virtual world.

A tale of loss, friendship, and adventure, Destiny's Champions is a thrilling ride that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end.

Hang in there, 2nd book is much better!

This 1st book is ok, MC is pretty whiney though. The last 10 mins of this book heading into the 2nd is where it really starts to pickup.

Remove OP for a good story!

To create a VR game that would be indistinguishable from RL. This is Dr. Phillip's dream. Sigma Worlds was the result. Jason’s lawyer, Michael argued for Jason to sign the contract with GFL International. Jason was disabled from an auto accident and allowed an opportunity to beta test a new VRMMORPG, including a five hundred thousand dollar yearly salary. Jason scored very high on their BAS, Brain Activity Sync, making Jason a pet project of Dr. Phillips. With the time desync between Sigma Worlds and Earth, Jason would be in Simga for ten years. Jason was on his way, entering the pod system, and joining the game. Jason Dragonheart, a hybrid dragon/summoner, enters the game. Jason was contacted by the gods of Sigma, again due to his high BAS score, granting him boons right from the beginning, pushing him to level ten before he could assign any points. OP from the start, but he is Dr. Phillip's pet adventurer. Jason’s first quest is from the gods themselves. Save the sentient AI beings by allowing them to coexist with Earth peacefully. Not too outrageous, eh? With Jason’s prior Earth knowledge he had several times gone outside the game mechanics to create new options, skills, equipment, and supplies, granting him additional benefits. The “assistant”, Diana assigned to him by the gods gives him even more benefits. The amplified “overpoweredness” of his build by the time he gets out of training is ludicrous. As the story continues, Jason acquires master-level companions; Rasha, Rena, Jasmine, Tatania, and Meisha who bond themselves to him. In the conclusion, he was a Demi-god with sixty-three points unassigned. Jason’s rationalization of this situation is that he came to Sigma to relax and enjoy life, contrary to his life on Earth, not grind and struggle to level up. Jason was confused about his relationships with women on Sigma; he would not act this way with women on Earth. Fear not, Jason, you are acting normal, if not naive at times. It’s the women that are more open and honest; quite different than women on Earth. I truly like the story, the characters, and the narrator very much, but it is hard to abide by the OP situation of the main character. This concept by some authors leaves no competition, no risk. The game would never survive pre-release reviews.

It was like listening to an anime.

1st off.. I devour WAY TO MANY audiobooks! They are great while I'm working, driving, and so many other activities. I also absolutely love Isekai! I've really enjoyed the light novels of some of my favorite animes (translated of course). So this was right up my alley. The only downside to it is (the same complaint I have with most the litRPGs on here) that it's so short. Instead of only selling 2 books... they can charge us so much more by dividing them into 6. Audiobooks are NOT a cheap addiction.

But anyway... It grabbed me right from the start. I didn't want to stop listening. Yes; the mc is the typical anime op naive mc. But that's just part of the genera. I enjoy that it's a harem... without it being Hentai (I'm not here to listen to a porno). The world is interesting; as is the characters. I look forward to see both developed as the story progresses.

I enjoyed it enough that (even though I have moved on to another book in the Plus Catalog) I'm still considering buying the 3 extra credits (twice) so I can have the complete series. I'm not considering dropping over $70 on any series unless I really like it; and can see me coming back to it numerous times in the future.

It's not on the same level with Ready Player One; and that's why I can't give it 5 stars. But it's Isekai! And a dang good one too. I enjoyed the twist at the end. I actually did not see that coming. Which was kind of concerning; as I was enjoying this specific world's development. But it's cool because it opened up such a wide variety of possibilities. I think that's vague enough to not count as a "spoiler".

It was ok

It was a bit boring the main character was too easily surprised or confused and this happens a lot wish he was a bit smarter.

Awesome feel good story

I really enjoyed this story. Gave it a chance because it was free via my membership level. So glad I did, really enjoyed this book. One of those nice feel good plots and a nice setup for more books. Anxious to start on the next books in the series.

Holy crap! Where has this been?!

Where the heck has this book been while I searched for more great books to listen to the last few years?! Truly an amazing start to a series. I enjoyed the unique take on a popular genre. The characters were good and it was relatively drama free, which is what I really appreciate. The twist at the end was very well done and caught me completely unaware! I already bought the next one and will start it first thing in the morning (it's now 415am, so I need to get a few hours sleep).

What A Twist

Not a completely unique back story, but the direction of the the in game world is fantastic. The MC is becoming way OP, in the first 2 days of in game life, but that's pretty standard. What has me chomping for more is the last 10 min. Not a twist I was expecting, but very excited to see where it goes.

Went in blind....

Looking for a few books to listen to and just thought I would give it a listen. While it is not the best I have listened, it's far from the worse. Found myself slightly bored at first but grew to enjoy it.
