Fear, intriguing characters, based in history

Reno, Rorwanda, warfare, -the supernatural characters follow history and amazingly authentic characters in an intriguingly developed store. Original concepts, well developed with an amazing ending.

Alluring and Mysterious!

Despicable is another captivating story by Timothy Bryan. As I listened to the audiobook, superbly read by Jonathan Waters, I was immediately captivated by the main character, Kalisa--a refugee from a genocide, located in the country Rwanda. Her childhood backstory instantly tore at my heart. Not wanting to give away too much of the story, Kalisa finds herself relocating to Reno, where she is a security guard for a casino. With a gambling addiction and a bit of a drinking problem, she is struggling to raise her child, after her husband leaves her due to her infidelity.
As the story builds and starts to unfold, more interesting characters are introduced, leaving you wondering where this is heading. But then... it takes a complete turn. Now there are supernatural creatures (YAY!) involved, and they are savagely killing people who all seem to be involved with the main character. To find out what happens, and believe me, it becomes a mystery with intense scenes that will leave you on edge, you'll have to get the audiobook for yourself. If you enjoy a great thriller with mystery and a bit of horror or just plain great writing, this is definitely one you won't regret. 👏

Suspenseful and Creepy

Despicable is wonderfully creative, unique, and creepy as hell. I was hooked from the very beginning until the twist at the end which I did not see coming. Wow. Kalisa witnessed a horrible event that wounded her and killed her mother and brother but who knew that the past would be relevant to her future. People around Kalisa come up missing and everything seems to center around her and know she fears for her and her son's life. Timothy Bryan again surprises me with a unique view of horror with an intense creep factor. I absolutely loved it and would highly recommend it to horror fans. Jonathan Waters did a phenomenal job as narrator with his voices he brought the characters and story to life. This is my honest unbiased review that I will stand by and I am voluntarily leaving of my own volition.

Despicable

This was a really good story! A monster is drawn to savagery for decades. When people start disappearing in Calisas life she has no idea why. I found the ending way too short. There needs to be more to this story.Jonathan Waters was a fine narrator. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Mysterious and Engaging

The story took a bit to grab me, but once it did it was worth the wait. A survivor of a genocide event trying to do well and then suddenly later supernatural beings come into the story.

Don't want to ruin this great audiobook by saying too much more. Great listen.

A total OMG ending!!!

As a child Kalisa was a part of the Rwanda genocide and right before a beastly creature attacked her. It was beheaded by another bigger taller creature. Flash forward 30 years and Kalisa is living in Reno and working and addictively gambling at a casino. She is separated from her husband Rick and she is trying to raise her beloved son south on her own. It isn’t until her grandfather passes away that she reconnects with her estranged father, Martin. This is also when she starts noticing strange things happening, like people being ripped apart and even one who goes missing. Not to mention people are following her. While her and her dad are at the funeral home they find out about the rotten meat in the neon green liquid and it seems things just get stranger. This book was so good, I wish I could give it a better summary but all I can say is how awesome this book is. I have listened to every book on audible by this author and have many books by the narrator and I am a huge fan of both and having them on another book together just makes for a perfect audiobook. If you love horror then wait no longer this is definitely a great horror tale. I highly recommend it and can’t wait for the next book by this author.

enjoyed greatly- reminded me of 1980s movies

initial scene had me thinking I had downloaded different book. 2nd chapter locked me back in with female protagonist full of faults and virtues. meanwhile folks start disappearing around her as she tries to fix her relationships with her father and ex. being horror story, the big bad is not ordinary threat but read on. and the last scene classic 1980s film ending
