About this listen

When firefighter Randy Bogart perishes in the arson fire at an abandoned brewery known as the Brewmaster's Widow, Death Bogart and his girlfriend Wren Morgan travel to St. Louis, Missouri, to find closure. They discover that Randy left his badge behind at the firehouse before going to the brewery. But the coroner finds another badge on Randy's body, leaving Death and Wren with more questions than answers.

Desperate to know what really happened, Death and Wren begin to investigate. Their digging leads to a connection between Randy's death and the mysterious Cherokee Caves once used by 19th-century beer barons. But the Brewmaster's Widow is jealous of her secrets. Prying them loose could cost Death and Wren their lives.

Excellent two book series.

Hope she continues the series. Books were funny, riveting, and kept me in the edge of my seat.

Not too lovey dovey or too Scooby Doo

I've enjoyed this series. It has an interesting story line, wonderful characters and an amazing narrator. I'm writing this is to ask ... where is the next title in this series? Death & the Viking's Daughter. I'd very much like to add it to my library.

Two mysteries with a surprise ending.

The saga continues of Death (pronounced DEE-th) Bogart, P.I., and Wren Morgan, assistant auctioneer.

Death’s brother Randy died while Death was still deployed. Randy thought Death had been killed in the war. Death is trying to find closure concerning the death of his brother who died a year ago while fighting an arson fire. Now Death has to settle his brother's estate in St. Louis.

Two questions are nagging him: 1) as an experienced firefighter, why didn’t Randy get out of the building alive, and 2) why are there two badges that seemingly belong to Randy. One of the badges the corner has passed along from Randy’s uniform and the other the Chief has and knows to be Randy’s. The two badges have different numbers. Thus, the firehouse Chief has the same questions as Death. Filled with these two nagging questions, Wren joins Death in St. Louis looking for answers.

Two great mysteries in one with a surprise ending that can be read as a stand alone.

enjoyed

Glad for the sequel, the first book in the series left me wanting to learn more about the characters and this book gave more about Death, I am hoping the next book in the series if there is one will delve into Wren's background. it was sometimes difficult to tell which character was speaking but I could figured it out as the dialogue progressed

Worth the wait. Skip the "Chuck".

This book was worth the wait, but I do think it could've done without the last 30 seconds. Like the television series Chuck (and the classic: "Lost in Space"), I find it really annoying when at the end of the story they tack on someone running in with a disaster as a hook to the next story. Then you need to wait for the next book and you need to wait a year for the next book (if it even comes to audible).

However, I couldn't bring myself to take away even one star for the hot annoying story style.

best cozy mystery I've read in ages!!

the characters, the story and the reader are all a perfect mix with this one!! I enjoyed it so much, I listened to it twice, which I rarely do. already have the third book in my queue for when it's published. The characters are engaging and funny, which for me, makes a story. enjoy!!
