About this listen

Dead Ringer is audiobook number eight in the Aggie Underhill Mystery series.

Aggie and her friends have rented a beach house in Oceanside while anxiously awaiting the birth of her granddaughter. Little did she know that Roger's supposed near-death experience of practically choking to death on a golden ring baked into a gluten-free doughnut would land her in so much trouble.

Now, it's up to Betty, Aggie's best friend, to put the clues together and play detective in order to dig Aggie out of a dangerous situation.

Will the mystery of the golden ring be solved before Aggie's granddaughter is born?

Join Aggie, Betty, and Roger in this comical escapade to find out.

Poor Aggie! Just love her!

I am such a fan of Aggie Underhill....or Maggie Overhill🤣...these are such fun to listen too. This had a surprising twist that I sure didn't see coming. I love that despite all their differences..this group of friends comes together when crisis strikes! I also can feel Aggies pain in regards to her cell phone..ugh. Truly I suggest giving this series a listen.

Loved it

This book was great. I enjoyed the story and the characters. Aggie, Roger and Bettie are so funny. It seems trouble follows them everywhere. I do want to read more this series. The narrator does good job with these characters. I was gifted this book at my request in exchange for an honest review.

I find the Aggie Underhill Mysteries so much fun. The characters are quirky, and so much fun. The mysteries are unique and quite entertaining. Eliza Anders does an awesome job narrating, and keeping your attention. I will be listening to this one again.

Fun Characters in Okay Story

I received this book for free. I am voluntarily leaving this review and all opinions expressed herein are my own.

This book is part of the series of Aggie Underhill Mysteries. It is a standalone book and can be read without having read any of the prior books in the series.

I am torn on this book -- I would rate it a 4 star based on the relationship and interactions of Aggie, Betty and Roger but the mystery - definitely 2.5 stars, hence the 3 star rating. Here, Aggie has rented a beach house not far from her daughter who is pregnant and about to give birth. Of course, she takes Roger and Betty along. One morning Roger has bought donuts and chokes on a ring found in one of the donuts. Roger will not stand for almost being killed by a donut and returns to the shop with Aggie in tow. While Roger is complaining, the owner of the bakery comes to realize that Aggie is Aggie Underhill from Betty's blog posts and she is a big fan. The mystery here is why was the ring in the donut?

The problem with the mystery is that it is lackluster and Aggie, while ending up in several situations which brought her closer to the solution, was not really part of solving the mystery or putting together any of the clues to solve it [I don't want to give away any spoilers]. There were several humorous moments throughout the story which I enjoyed but I guess I just like the story more when Aggie is investigating. The interactions between Aggie, Betty and Roger are always fun and for me worth the price of admission.

The narrator, Eliza Anders, has again done a great job narrating. She does voices for all of the characters and keeps the story moving along at a good pace.

Good story

I think the story is good but the narrator made these characters grate on me like fingernails on a chalkboard. I think I would rather read these books than listen to them.

OK

This was different in that the people investigating the murder are older yet act like they were 30 years younger at times.

delicious listen!

Aggie Underhill is such an endearing character. Michelle Ann Hollstein wrote incredible imagery in Dead Ringer, along with some great humor and unexpected twists. Having spent time in Oceanside over the past few years, I could envision so much. I had a yearning for muffins and donuts after listening to this book. Betty and Roger also added to this story, as they are constant companions for Aggie. I so enjoyed the Grandmother competition and found it to be realistic. Eliza Anders performed this book so well. I loved her distinguishable voices for the various characters. She had the right emotions and expressions in her voice, which brings the characters to life. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I will definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator.
