On a freezing night in January 1941, a little Jewish girl is found on the steps of an apartment building in Bucharest. With Romania recently allied with the Nazis, the Jewish population is in grave danger, undergoing increasingly violent persecution. Loved it!
This was one of those books that I find myself so sad to finish… I wish I could keep following these characters along in their lives.… And read by an outstanding narrator! So sad to be done with this book!

Terrific story
Lisa Jewell is such a consistently good writer. I discovered her with “Then She Was Gone” and have been hooked ever since. This one had been sitting in my library for awhile because it’s not the typical story for me, but I loved it as much as all her other books. Hearing the story from two different time periods was great.
Helen Duff was awesome as usual.

Slow but worth it
Loved the book as a whole. The beginning though was very slow and I almost returned it a few times. it ended up about half way through to start picking up and becoming semi clear all the way to the great ending
Though I would have enjoyed the epilogue I have become to expect

Amazing Story
This story kept me guessing and when the characters all tied together it was a fabulous ending. Lots of backstory and present day of two women who were very much alike.

Great story
I truly enjoyed this book! It tells a very interesting story about two women living parallel lives . One woman.'s story takes place in the'20's (1920)' the other in the 1990's.. I'm not sure who the narrator is unless it's the author, but she does a great job. The story takes place (mostly) in London.

Great book!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It switches back and forth between the two main characters in 1920 and 1995 and then connects them together. Highly recommend it.
