About this listen

Alexander (Xander) Livingston left college with the dream of becoming CEO of his uncle's technology company. Nine years later, all his dreams have come true. All except for one: marrying the love of his life.

Madison (Maddie) Hightower had always been a loner until Xander came along. Devastated after he left her behind to chase his dreams, she focused all her energy on becoming president of a digital software company - the same business Xander is slated to take over. Even after all these years, her attraction for Xander is still sizzling and palpable. He still makes her heart sing, but she isn’t sure if he feels the same way. Xander is interested in the merger for two reasons. The first is the potential for growth in the digital market, and the second is a chance to reconnect with Maddie. He’s never forgotten her. She was supposed to be by his side as he climbed the corporate ladder, and now he has the opportunity to swoop in, buy the company, and have Maddie working under him. Literally.

But Maddie had a secret. One she never told Xander when he left her in California and headed to the East Coast - a secret she never thought he’d ever uncover.

The merger of their companies will bring Xander face to face with Maddie’s life-altering betrayal. How he handles this discovery will determine the future for both and decide the fates of these two star-crossed lovers.

12 years, really?

First of all Maddie, who keeps a child from a man they have been in continuous contact with for almost twelve years! Other than that detail I thought this was a cute surface level second chance romance. I thought the fact that Xander and Maddie stayed friends was an interesting twist. It was apparent they always had great chemistry and the love continued to stay two sided. I can appreciate the sacrifices they both made in a sense. Overall quick book that grabs your attention and keeps it.

Another dumb story and heroine

This was another dumb heroine and story. The hero was selfish and the communication between the main characters was just childish. Really after thirteen years she kept the kid from him? Not to mentioned, she still talked to him. This by far the dumbest characters. Please please authors I beg you don’t create dumb heroine! Please write strong and smart heroine not a dumb one!

Xander and Maddie

An emotional, fun, and charming journey to go on with Xander and Maddie. A great addition to the Cocky hero world. I enjoyed this story.

Wonderful Romance

My only complaint about this novel is 'Brookie', her name was Brooklyn but her mother insisted on calling her Brookie which really sounded stupid. I know she was only 11 but it just sounded horrible.

Can't Finish

I thought this might be the book that could change my mind on hidden baby storylines. Sadly, it is not. It's another dumb heroine with a trash excuse for her actions. Her personality can't even make up for her indiscretion; I dislike everything about her. I'm holding out faith that one day I'll come across an author that can create this plot with a heroine I don't want to punch in the face. Sidenote, I enjoyed hearing the child's narrative. Extra sidenote, it was painful to hear that child's nickname over and over. Who thought Brooky was a good idea!?

meh

Mixed feelings... spoilers do not read my review if you don’t want some inklings about this book.

I absolutely hate hidden kids. I get some people won’t reach their full potential if having a kid. But they won’t reach full parent potential either. A woman who takes a mans right away because of feat or for him is just a pos. Now since this is a book not reality I will say great he gets a hea but the kid suffered they suffered but they got to make money and end up together in the end. Um..... 2 stars

Aptly named

I can usually find some redeeming characteristic of the MC. Not this time. I disliked Zander from beginning to end, and couldn’t find any respect for Madison. I’ve listed to many Hero Club books and have liked them all. This one is at the bottom of the list. The readers were ok, not annoying, and I did at least finish the book.
