Overview of Topic; OTT Enthusiasm

This book has decent information about creating a small backyard garden using containers, pots, and other means of getting a lot of yield from a small space. I've actually read quite a few of these types of books, and if you're like me, the author won't offer much you probably haven't already read before or thought about. I didn't feel like she gave enough information for the true beginner to really get started with a small-plot container garden. However, a beginner could find it helpful because it does give a broad overview of various issues you need to consider about your space, what you'd like it to be, options for different types of containers and plants, and simple hints for growing vegetables and fruits. But if you truly want to get into gardening at this level, you will probably need to buy other books or watch videos to help you take it from what you envision to any actual functioning garden.

The narrator sounds friendly and engaging. I wasn't particularly wild about the writing style, as the author sounded like she was trying to be too hip and upbeat. Not every concept needs a simile, metaphor, or overblown description to help the reader “get it.” Some information in this book is not best shared in audiobook format. Listening to endless lists does get a bit tedious to listen to, especially as they may or may not apply to you and your circumstances. Audible does offer publishers the ability to include a PDF along with an audiobook, and this audiobook certainly would have been enhanced if the publisher had included one. Without one, if you want to use the information in this book, you will have to start and stop the audiobook as you make copious notes. Either a PDF of the full book or of the all-important lists would have been helpful.
