Great writing advice

This book is perfect for people who want writing advice, but hate the type of advice that is typically given.

Palahniuk is relatable and practices the writing advice he preaches, even in the text itself.

Listening Again and Again

I love this book as much as Stephen King's book On Writing and that is saying a lot. This book is entertaining plus it gives a lot of practical advice on writing, the kind you need to hear once you get past the basics -- it's the intermediate/senior course. I enjoyed the anecdotes -- they made listening to the book a treat. I have listened to it several times now and know I will listen to it several more times because there is so much good information in it.

My favorite book "on writing" from a writer...

This is the only writer's "on writing" book I wished had been longer! Chuck Palahniuk is quite a character but at the same time, he is a tremendously talented thinker, plotter, and writer. I'll have to admit that while his fiction is NOT my cup of tea, his talent is undeniable. This, in my humble opinion, is his best work to date.

And of course, you cannot go wrong listening to Edoardo Ballerini. I would pay to listen to him recite the U.S. Tax Code from 1954. He is the best audio book performer working today.

This is a must read/listen for any fledgling fiction writer. It is better than King's 'On Writing' or any of the other successful writer's tomes on what it takes to make a living in this racket.

Get it and enjoy it.

I thought he wrote fiction!

This is a self help book riddled with heart and compassion. Forcing it on my loved ones has been awkward with fruitful results. I bought a couple printed copies and now sound like my strange Uncle handing out Dianetics.

Innocent fun...

I think what I enjoyed best from Chuck's take on the writing life are the suggested for writing exercises and his overall approach to writing as therapy. The latter provides less stress on the notion of writing for monetary wealth and status, and he also injects the idea if infusing one's stories and characters with one's personal trauma and experiences. While many of these suggestions are not revolutionary, the book package is concise and entertaining and easily consumed, especially in the audible form.

My fav author writing advice book

Good stuff. He really hits some detailed points, not the usual basic stuff you find in IG memes “show don’t tell” etc. There a couple things I’ll use for future books. Nice work, Mr. Chuck P

This has been the most entertaining and practical book I have read for writers. I strongly recommend this to others hoping to learn more about the craft.
