A Good Fun YA Novel

Even though I love rehashes of fairy tales, I didn't expect much out of this book because it was a YA fiction. There were the standard plot holes for YA works, (For example; Prince Kai isn't exactly up to snuff on political etiquette, what he actually does is pretty vague, and he's a little too innocent to believe.)
With all this talk of a Terminator Princess, I'll admit I was expecting more carnage. But if you can set your skepticism on the back burner, this is an entertaining read. The main character is blessedly down to earth, sometimes funny and very useful. She's not all powerful or anything, it's still a girl we're reading about, with electronic parts and human instincts.

Can't wait for book two

This reworking of the Cinderella story is delightfully creative. I enjoyed the world that Marissa Meyer created (Cinderella as cyborg, Lunar people who are enslaved, etc.) and cannot wait for what she does in the second book. Narrator does a great job!

I didn't want it to end!

What a great revamp of the Cinderella story. This book combines sci-fi, romance, and suspense and does a wonderful job of it. It kept me interested the whole time and kept me guessing and the narration was excellent. I highly recommend this audio book.

Manga meets fan fiction

I agree with the other reviewers who say this is a young adult novel where the plot has lots of holes. It's all pretty predictable and I didn't find the ending surprising much. However, the story is creative and interesting. So much so that I will probably spend a credit on the sequel.

Great modern Cinderella story!

Would you listen to Cinder again? Why?

Yes, because I really enjoyed all of the exciting twist in this book. This Cinderella is not meek!

What does Rebecca Soler bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She made Cinder more human than cyborg. When I read the summary, Cinder seem more robotic and cold.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Cinder's love for her stepsister was heart breaking.

Not your average Cinderella story...so much more!

To start off I will say that I loved the main character--Cinder. I thought at the begining that she was going to be your average damsel in distress...and boy was I wrong! Cinder is a strong young woman who also is a cyborg (part human part robot). She was adopted when she was eleven years old but her step-father has passed away. She is left with her step mother and two step sisters (but one of the step sister's is actualy a sweetheart). Also Cinder is a well known mechanic, this leads to prince Kai brining one of his androids to be repaired. So the story begins. In the time that Cinder lives in there is a disease that is plagueing humanity, a plague without a cure. Humanity faces many threats and the plague is just one of them. There is always a constant threat of war from the Lunars (human who live on the moon), more specificaly from Queen Luna who has killed her very own family and relatives to be queen. Now the Queen has an ultimatum for Prince Kai...soon to be Emperor Kai, marry her to avoid war. This was a fast paced book in which we see Cinder as a head-strong woman who also has many doubts about herself because of the prejudices she has to face from her family and society. She is slammed with many more prejudices as she discovers more about herself. I look forward to the next book!!

The story is easy to get into and the narrator made it easy to feel immersed in the story.
