Publisher's summary

The planet Lusitania is home to three sentient species: the Pequeninos, a large colony of humans, and the Hive Queen, who was brought there by Ender Wiggin. But now, once again, the human race has grown fearful; the Starways Congress has gathered a fleet to destroy Lusitania. Ender's oldest friend, Jane, an evolved computer intelligence, can save the three sentient species of Lusitania. She has learned how to move ships outside the universe, and then instantly back to a different world, abolishing the light-speed limit. But it takes all the processing power available to her, and the Starways Congress is shutting down the network of computers in which she lives, world by world.

Soon Jane will not be able to move the ships. Ender's children must save her if they are to save themselves.

Children of the Mind is the fourth book in Orson Scott Card's The Ender Saga.

Critic reviews

"This is a worthy ending to what might be styled a saga of the ethical evolution of humanity, a concept seldom attempted before and never realized with the success Card achieves here." (Booklist)

"Card's prose is powerful." (Publishers Weekly)

Excellent Book

All of the Ender series are excelletn but you have to have a taste for philosophy. You need to have read the previous books in order to really make sense of this last of the current series since refereneces to the previous books and events in them are sparse.

Lovely but heavy

It is a great book, but keep in mind that this book is fairly heavy (in a philosophical sense) and that you require to read (listen) the book before it for some much needed context.

An excellent finale to the Ender Saga.

Card and the performers truly please with the story and captured emotion in the reading of this epic classic finale to the Ender Saga. I cannot wait to listen to Enders Shadow as I continue to learn more about the Universe Card has created, in a way I've literally never heard before. Growing up reading these books was amazing to me, but being able to listen to them again and live the same story in a whole new way is truly an experience I cherish. I can't wait to go to work so I can listen to more of these books.

Interesting ending

I’ve finished a good portion of the Ender’s series and enjoyed this book, although it did drag in in spots. The subplots were interesting and came together well.

I enjoyed most of the voice actors, but it disturbs me that the Asian narrator was, well, Asian. It loses something in the translation and becomes almost insulting.

I think this was an interesting way to end the character.

great story, some surprises, most small

Big story that mostly goes the way you would expect over the span of several chapters but could not have guessed from the onset of the book. Fun plot and the characters are well developed.

worth listening to

worth listening to. sometimes too preachy. s the still a good story. sometimes the religion and stereo typing makes me crazy , but books are written for our times. some times I agree with the author and sometimes not.

There are not enough stars.

Each book is progressively better. I am in love with this series. Best one so far.
