About this listen

I was raised in a world full of more death than life, surrounded by the blood-curdling violence and nauseating stench of zombies. And 20 years after the Outbreak, it doesn’t seem to be changing any time soon.

After a devastating loss rocks my little group of survivors, I’m forced to venture out of my comfort zone in an attempt to find help - straight into the impenetrable walls of El Castillo.

But The Knights don’t take kindly to my mission, and when their leader, Gunner, captures me, everything spirals out of control. My captor suddenly becomes my ally as we’re thrust into a war of Gunner’s own making.

A war that threatens not only his people, but my own.

Note: True to an apocalyptic world, Captured has scenes that may be a trigger to some listeners.

This is book one in a duet and has a mild cliff-hanger.

Terrific Story & Narration🎧 A Fascinating Thrill!

Wow, I enjoyed this audiobook immensely, the story is original and imaginative, it captivated my attention from start from start to end. This is my first book written by H.R. Savage and it definitely will not be my last I enjoyed her writing style and the characters and storylines she created. They are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with. There is great world building and character development. This is a post-apocalyptic romance and us set 20 years after the outbreak and the world forever changed for those who survived. People are forced to hide away from zombies, the dead turned into toxic flesh eating monsters who survive off of the living. Once bitten they too are turned in a mindless monster. But these zombies are not the only monsters on the street there are other human survivors, some who formed an army of bad men who power hungry and take advantage of the innocent, some in the worst of ways. Thea spent the majority of her life in this new post-apocalyptic world, she grew up with her father who kept her safe and other young ones they met along the way. Her father taught her everything she needed to know to survive, she is smart, strong and caring young lady. After a tragic and heartbreaking loss while out searching for antibiotics she selflessly continued the search, setting out to the El Castillo a compound of survivors living in a gated community of homes that were built just before the outbreak. She gets there safely only to be captured by Gunner one of the leaders aka Knights of El Castillo. They do not take kindly to intruders and are skeptical when they hear her story. They escort her back, wind up getting captured by the Moonlighters whose leader has history with Gunner and it is not good. They finally make it back to her group with the medicine and Gunner and his knights see she was telling them the truth all along. Not only that but she proved how much of a badass she really is. I loved how everything played out in this book, the story is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, angst, action, thrilling suspense, heartfelt and emotional moments and a hot romance. I adored the two lead characters, Thea and Gunner as well as some of the secondary and support characters. I am looking forward to what happens next as their story continues. H.R. Savage, thank you for this great story and thrilling & emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧And for the wonderful narration, H.R. Savage casted the perfect narrator to bring her characters and story to life. Meghan Kelly is a fabulously talented narrator and versatile voice artist. She performs the voices of all the characters, giving each their own distinct voice making it easy to follow along and tell who is who. Her portrayal of each character is spot on, I love how she takes each role and makes it her own, sounding believable and just as I picture them to sound. She sets the perfect tone for the story, captures all the characters emotions and projects them into her performance. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen🎧

Captured

This book started of with some intense action and kept going through the whole thing. Such strong characters and tragic situations that had me crying right along with them. I’m not usually interested in the zombie apocalypse kind of stuff but this book was fantastic and I will definitely be keeping an eye out for more.

Great story!

I’m usually not a fan of books with zombies but this book definitely surprised me. Yes, zombies (freshies) were involved but also a love story, a community that has each other’s back, adults taking care of the kids. I loved it!
The narrator did an outstanding job (as always)!

Captured, Ruins of Play Azul #1 by H. R. Savage

I bought the audio copy. The narration was fantastic. The narrator did a wonderful job pulling me into the story and varying each characters voice.

Ok so before I start my review, I am going to say Zombie books are my JAM!!! I mean I love them and get excited when I see one because I LURVE ZOMBIES!! So because I love this genre I am a bit picky and can tend to be a bit harsh on my reviews. I want the book to take me away but also be realistic. This book did an awesome job of both. I was so impressed with this new to me author and her ability to craft a story that was believable.

Thea and her dad, along with Jason and a group of others have been hiding for years in an old prompt care building. They are hiding from the dead AND the living. The Moonlighters and the Knights her dad said are not groups to get involved with.

When tragedy strikes the group, Thea makes the bold and stupid decision to leave ALONE in search of medicine for one of her kids…her family….her reason for being. She stumbles into the Knights “city” and everything changes for Thea.

Gunner is not happy his fortress has a weakness. He also is not happy with the spitfire who keeps getting under his nerves. When the two come to an agreement to help her people is when we meet the really bad people. The Moonlighters. These are the people who you fear in this kind of world. The take what isn’t yours kinda people. The Knights and Thea soon become a team when the Moonlighters again cause strife for Thea and her family.

The story of Gunner and Thea falling in love but also respecting the hell out of each other and their opinions. I mean he is this strong alpha but tells Thea she wreaks him at every turn because he can’t be without her. Although he was a bit of a dick one morning with Jason…..REALLY Gunner…just pee on her already!!

The story is so fast paced. I started reading and was like WTF I am at 50% in the blink of an eye! The story of family and stress…so much stress in these worlds but also of finding someone who you can love with your entire soul. Finding someone in this hella crazy world is something you can’t deny or refuse.

The side characters are amazing but Jason…my heart aches for him and Vi because she is hilarious, and I think maybe even a bit crazy. I pictured Harley Quinn when I read her parts…LOL do you understand now???

I cannot wait for book 2. This story says its ends on cliffhanger, but I didn’t think it was terrible. Its more of a natural, expected continuation to the story. One I will definitely be reading in March when its released.

Very enjoyable with lots of thrills.

I thought this had a great plot and story line with great characters. Some were lost and it just about made me crazy to see them die. It was a good romance with thrills, danger and excitement that makes your heart jump. The characters are likable, at times I chuckled and others when my heart skipped a beat. I really enjoyed this and can't wait for the next in this series to come out.

The narrator did a wonderful job with the character voices, there are no background noise, no volume changes, if any breaks were taken I could not tell, there are no background noise, no volume changes just a smooth easy listen that I enjoyed very much. The narrator gives true emotion to the characters, you always know who is talking and what they are feeling. She has a very pleasant voice, the character voices go well with the character. She pauses when it is need and the audio is very even and smooth. I enjoy this narrator and have been listening to her work for awhile now, she never disappoints me always giving me a very entertaining listen of hour of enjoyment.

I thought this was a very good story and really enjoyed it. I really didn't want it to end.

Grabbed me from the very beginning

I'm not a big zombie apocalypse fan but this one looked interesting. I'm so glad I got it as it is very well written with realistic characters. The narration by Meghan Kelly was excellent! She gives each character their own unique voice, even the children. I couldn't stop listening and felt every emotion these guys went through. Gunner, Jason, Thea are all such strong characters with emotions just rolling off them. Love love love!

Fantastic Audible Book!!!

Let me say, zombie books aren't the usual type of book that I listen to, but the blurb did fascinate me. What a powerful story. I couldn't stop listening to it. H. R. Savage is a new author to me and has written a story containing strength, heartache, survival, love of family mainly non- blood members, mistakes, cruelty, and love. Thea is a strong woman and survivalist who is determined to take care of her family including many children that she and others in her group have rescued off of the streets. Gunner is leader of the Knights another survivalist group. He, too, has the same feelings towards his makeshift family that Thea has. There is another survivalist group that is pure evil. Make sure that you have tissues ready. I respect authors that let you know that the story ends in a cliffhanger, but this one just really leads into what to expect from book 2. The main problems brought up in Captured are answered.

Meghan Kelly is an outstanding narrator who gives the characters their own distinctive voices so you know who is speaking. She really captures the myriad of emotions that these characters experience and allows the listener to feel them. I was on an emotional rollercoaster ride throughout the book. I highly recommend this Audible book that will hold your attention throughout the entire story.

An easy and exciting listen!

Wow! I really loved this story! While its a zombie apocalypse it really deals with the survivors. It is interesting that this takes place about 20 years after the Outbreak. So there are adults who are now older as well as kids who were very young and now are mid twenties. It really outs a different perspective on the story.

The characters really captured my interest. I stop listening waiting to see what would happen next. There are characters to love and those to hate. Thea is a fav as well as Jason and Gunner. But the one who caught my eye was Viv who we meet later in the book.

This is loaded with action as well has some romance. I really loves this and while it does have a soft ending I really look forward to more.

I did listen to this on audio. Meghan Kelly did an amazing job. She puts the right amount of emotion into her voices that really helps me *feel* for the characters. Her voices for each characters seemed spot on. A easy and exciting listen.

Absolutely fantastic story!

This story is extremely well written and narrated. This storyline has zombies, bad guys, good guy’s, women and children just trying to survive the zombie apocalypse. The story has action, suspense and romance. I found this audiobook to be Engrossing ,intriguing ,passionate and the first in the series. I can’t wait for more in this series!!
The narrator does a Magnificent job with the characters and the voices of each of the characters making it extremely easy to distinguish between the characters. She is a fantastic narrator and one of my favorites. I hope she narrates the rest of the series because I love when the author has the same narrator or the series.
