About this listen

Travis

After the accident, the chief was pushing me to retire. Being a firefighter was all I had ever wanted, what I lived for. Well, other than my 12-year-old daughter, Abby. Raising her as a single dad, much less a busy firefighter, wasn't easy, but life never is.

Then a call came in from an all-too-familiar area code. I was being beckoned back to my hometown, back to Canon. I had left that small town years ago, leaving behind a lot, including...her.

Sophie

I never intended to stay in my hometown of Canon. But after college and losing Travis to the big city, I kind of just ended up back here. My time was spent either teaching at school or reading at home. Both of which contributed to the "spinster" rumors going around.

But my ho-hum existence was suddenly ignited. A girl with fiery red hair and his emerald eyes showed up at the Homestead, his mom's restaurant. Was he back? Was Travis in Canon?

Burnt is a steamy, full-length single-dad small-town romance with a guaranteed HEA!

Small town second chance romance

Travis and Sophie grew up in the same small town and noticed each other even when they were young. But it wasn't until they ran into each other freshman year at the college that they started dating. Travis decides that college isn't for him, and Sophie doesn't want to leave school, so she lets him go. Fourteen years later Travis is back in Cannon, where he grew up. Only he's not alone, his 12 year old daughter Abby, is with him. Sophie moved back to Cannon after college and now she's the 8th grade English teacher. She noticed the cute red headed young girl, Abby, and instantly recognizes those green eyes as Travis'. Travis never really got over Sophie and one look reminds him of what he lost.

This book was kind of slow to get started and then everything seemed to come to a point super fast. I would have enjoyed more of an epilogue with more of what took place in the future. I listened to the audio of this story, which was narrated by Juliana Solo and Daniel James Lewis, they both did an okay job.

Sweet Romance!

This was my first Lacy Hart's book. This was a sweet a Single Dad, Small Town and second chance to love story, all in one! I loved the story and I was hooked from the start to finish. There were some twists and turns, with no drama added, just a lot of love and understanding! I liked it! Travis is really a great and handsome man. Travis and Sophie are great together. I love their HEA. The narration was well done. I enjoyed my listening. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Sweet 2nd chance romance

If you like second chance romance. then this is a book for you. There is a firefighter teacher, and a sweet teenager that is too smart for her own good. The story line keeps you wanting more.
The narration was good, but I didnt really hear the emotion from the Male narrator.

Second Chance

Second chance romances are one of my favorite tropes. While this story did have a sweet second chance story it wasn't one of my favorites. I felt it could've been better developed to have a stronger storyline. The narrators did an okay job.

second chance romance

this was a cute quick fun read about two people who get a second chance at being together who thought their chance was gone forever. a man moves back with his daughter abby to his old town after getting forced to retire from his job after suffering an injury on the job and comes back to take care of stuff after his father passed away. he runs into his ex girlfriend sophie and they manage to pick up right where they left off many years ago. never did he imagine life would bring him right back in his old town in the arms of his first love who he never could seem to get over.Over all I enjoyed this story even though second chance romances arent typically my thing and it did start off pretty slow at the beginning.

My Last book with Daniel James Lewis

I can’t take it anymore. This is my second and last audio book that I’ll buy with Daniel James Lewis as a narrator. His reading completely takes me out of the story. With his hard pronunciation of words with the letter “t”, to his incorrect inflection of words, I thought I’d go crazy. He would put a hard emphasis on words, completely changing the meaning of the sentence; making someone sound mad when they weren’t.
As you can tell, his narration completely overtook my outlook of the book. Juliana is an ok narrator. The storyline of this book was sweet, just a little heat. I will listen to or read LacyHart again.
