Publisher's summary

It was supposed to be a summer we’d never forget. Instead, everything was stolen from me.

The best friend who was more like a sister.
The innocent way I looked at life.
Leaving me with only unanswered questions.

Returning to the island is the second chance I didn’t know I needed. And Hunter is the surprise that knocks me sideways.

There’s a hurt in him that calls to my own.
A strength I find in sharing our scars.
Igniting a spark that turns to flame.

But someone isn’t happy about the world I’m building for myself. And nothing will stop them from tearing it all apart....

5 “UNPUTDOWNABLE” STARS!

Beneath the Wreckage is Book 5 in The Wrecked Series by Catherine Cowles. It can be read as a standalone but I promise you, you’re missing out if you don’t read the whole series!

Piper is back on Anchor Island a decade after tragedy struck while vacationing at Whispering Falls with her best friend, Jenn and their families. Owning Whispering Falls had been something Piper and Jenn had dreamed about while spending their summers there every year since they were little girls. So, when the lodge goes up for sale Piper sees the perfect opportunity to make their dream come true and honor Jenn’s memory.

If you’ve read any of the previous books in The Wrecked Series you’ve already met our beloved Hunter. He’s the owner of Hardy Construction, the company tasked with renovating Whispering Falls. From the moment they first met, Hunter and Piper had this inexplicable connection, almost as if their broken souls recognized a kindred spirit.

They both resisted their connection at first for different reasons. Hunter because he doesn’t date clients and Piper because she held everyone at arms length, scared to lose someone she loves again. The pull between the two grows stronger the more time they spend together until their walls of resistance crumble and they are unable to deny their feelings for each other any longer.

Hunter and Piper’s bond continues to strengthen as they renovate Whispering Falls together and work toward making peace with the bad memories held there for each of them. They’re finally moving forward—together. Only it seems someone doesn’t want Whispering Falls to re-open and they are determined to drive Piper out of Anchor Island by any means necessary.

I absolutely loved Hunter and his selflessness in the previous books in this series and Beneath the Wreckage was no different. He’d do anything and everything to keep Piper safe, we all could use a man like Hunter in our lives. Also, can I just add that I love the bond that developed between Hunter and Piper’s dog, Bruno. He stole my heart from his first tongue lull.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, there is no book that Catherine Cowles could ever write that I would ever regret reading. I was drawn in from page one and emotionally invested to the very last page. Her ability to perfectly balance a storyline with the right amount of suspense and romance is like no other.

I listened to the audio version and Erin Mallon and Jason Clarke were the perfect narrators for Piper and Hunter, they did an amazing job bringing this book and their main characters to life.

A Beautiful Written Heartfelt Love Story!

If there is one thing I can count on with a Catherine Cowles book it’s emotion. She is going to write a story that will hit you in feels in all the best ways. Hunter and Piper were no different. Beneath the Wreckage started off with you holding your hand over your heart and from there you’re on high alert. You’re instantly drawn in and left dangling on the edge in anticipation. There’s this mystery that had you scrambling to discover the truth. Both Hunter and Piper held some heavy emotional baggage that left them anti-relationship but when those feelings hit, it’s hard to deny. Although, it’s so entertaining to see them try. I also can’t write this review with mentioning the best friend a gal could have, Bruno!! I just absolutely loved him so much. Beneath the Wreckage gave me sweet, it gave me sexy, it gave me angst, it gave me suspense and intensity. It gave me everything I thought I needed and more. Now I definitely want to go back and read the other books in the series!
Then to top it off, Jason Clarke and Erin Mallon narrated and hello audiogasm!

Hunter and Piper

When I read my first book by Catherine Cowles, I was hooked and went down and rabbit hole with a bunch of others she wrote. I love the mystery aspect thrown in with the romance. I will have to say that this was not my favorite out of the series because it fell flat in places and the whys of the mystery i found boring. There is no way I would want to move to that town. They have the worst luck. I thought Huntet was the sweetest and loving type of Hero! I really liked boyh characters. The narrators were fabulous!

beautiful and perfect end to this series!

This should come as no surprise that Catherine has written ANOTHER 5 STAR read in this series. I have loved Hunter since Reckless Memories and I knew whoever Catherine found for him would have to be really special. He is really a hero in all the books in this series, but melt my heart, he is The Hero to end all heroes in this book. Swoon!!
Jason Clarke is the perfect and only choice for this character and I will fight anyone who doesn't agree! His extra growly yet smooth voice personifies who I imagine when I listened to this book.
Erin Mallon is fabulous as his love interest, Piper.
Piper is so sweet, and determined and vulnerable.. her side kick Bruno had me in love and upset and crying in a few parts of this book.
If you've read the synopsis you know the basic storyline but of course, it's never easy or basic when it comes to Catherine's books.
I was 80% sure I knew who the suspect was with this book and yet again I was wrong ! I love that about her books, you get sweet, sexy, romantic and a double shot of suspense that leaves you guessing until the very end.

Definitely a Happily Ever After

I think Hunter and Piper are my absolute favorites..

These two have been through so much. If any two people deserve to be happy together it’s Hunter and Piper.

This book kept me hooked and every time I thought that I knew who had been involved in things, BAM, something would happen to throw me off.

Definitely deserves 5 or more stars!

What a beautiful ending to this series

These narrators did such a phenomenal job of bring this book to life!

Hunter and Piper's journey is an absolute favorite of mine. This was such an amazing ending to a phenomenal series. The title fits this book perfectly. Both Piper and Hunter have had their lives wrecked and live with so much grief, guilt, and pain. What lies beneath their wrecked lives is something fierce and powerful, and together the will rise stronger because they have one another.
