Acerca de esta escucha

From Lt. General H.R. McMaster, US Army, ret., the former national security advisor and author of the best-selling classic Dereliction of Duty, comes a bold and provocative re-examination of the most critical foreign policy and national security challenges that face the United States, and an urgent call to compete to preserve America’s standing and security.

Across multiple administrations since the end of the Cold War, American foreign policy has been misconceived, inconsistent, and poorly implemented. As a result, America and the free world have fallen behind rivals in power and influence. Meanwhile threats to security, freedom, and prosperity such as nuclear proliferation and jihadist terrorism have grown. In Battlegrounds, H.R. McMaster describes efforts to reassess and fundamentally shift policies while he was national security advisor. And he provides a clear pathway forward to improve strategic competence and prevail in complex competitions against our adversaries.

Battlegrounds is a groundbreaking reassessment of America’s place in the world, drawing from McMaster’s long engagement with these issues, including 34 years of service in the US Army with multiple tours of duty in battlegrounds overseas and his 13 months as national security advisor in the Trump White House. It is also a powerful call for Americans and citizens of the free world to transcend the vitriol of partisan political discourse, better educate themselves about the most significant challenges to national and international security, and work together to secure peace and prosperity for future generations.

An outstanding non-partisan view on American foreign policy every American should read. I suggest this book to everyone with an interest in America's influence of the world.

Must read for America

Eell-written and thoughtful book on America's position and approach to the world. National Security reflections on (sometimes unintended) harm that foreign policy can cause.

Past and Future Battlegrounds

The author links seemingly benign areas shows how they affect national security. All Americans should read this book.

Necessary listen.

Insights from a highly emotional, spiritual, social, and mental intellectual. If there was a leader of the "common sense" party, we should value H. R. McMaster and his potential to change the world if he was elected president

Insightful

very informative, a college level explanation of our current policies to every major geopolitical situation our government faces. Written in clear, concise, understandable language. highly recommend this book.

Precise and Accurate

This was a very well thought out book. General McMaster clearly did his research! It was hard for me to follow at times considering I knew very little about these topics ahead of time. I would imagine that if this topic interests you, however, then this book is well worth the cost of time and money!

Thought Provoking

I enjoyed this book. As advertised it was not a tell all inside book about his time inside the Trump whitehouse. The chapters on China, Iran, North Korea, and Russia were the bulk of the book and just outstanding. I highly recommend this title to anyone interested in the general subject area of current American foreign policy.

Excellent

The flow of these military accounts are unmatched. Great flow to this book. Heard on Rohan and the book did not disappoint

Story telling

Se ha producido un error. Vuelve a intentarlo dentro de unos minutos.

A way of thinking that should influence our current national security leaders; not perfect but an attempt to be more holistic and learn from partners and adversaries alike.

Good insight

I would recommend this book to folks interested in US policy decisions related to foreign affairs and the influence these decisions have domestically.
McMaster views the diplomatic decision making process through the lenses of strategic narcissism, empathy and competence. This framework drives our actions. Unfortunately, our (the US) frame or bias is often outdated or more inward looking than out.
McMaster asks us to think about foreign competitors, enemies and allies through their frames and biases. This will help us make decisions based on external data and not a hope or optimism that will bend folks to our frame. Hope is not a strategy. McMaster lays out the need in this book to look at our current international landscape as Americans different. I’m glad I listened to it.

A well thought view on US competition pre and post Cold War
