About this listen

A sheepdog in training. A flock under threat. Can he find a killer before the case unravels?

Beau dreams of being a champion sheepdog just like his aunt. With the help of new livestock friends and a kind-hearted farmer, he vows to lead the herd proudly through the lush valleys of South Wales. But when one of the sheep goes missing, Beau never expected a woolly crime scene....

While his aunt warns him not to get too friendly with the flock, his connection with the sheep gets him both respect and a target on his back. As the brave pup frantically sniffs for clues, he's got one chance to solve the mystery before the farm starts counting sheep for all the wrong reasons.

Will Beau learn the ropes in time to protect his friends from a flock fatality?

Baa'd to the Bone is the first book in an animal-themed cozy mystery series. If you like plucky creatures, authentic Welsh settings, and home-baked suspense, then you’ll love Sarah Jane Weldon’s shaggy dog tale.

A tale for all ages

Beautifully narrated tale of deception, love gone wrong and murder... all told from the point of view of sheep and dogs. This is a coming of age tale as well. All ages will enjoy this book and come away wishing it was longer and wanting to revisit.

Funny Story

The book is a story told through animals voices and view of a farm. A small puppy sheepdog working with a herd of sheep. It started out a little slow but then picked up some. It was a funny story and is a fun read.

Baa’d to the Bone

I like stories that are written from the animals’ point of view whether it’s a dog, cat, sheep, etc. This one is nicely told & I enjoyed it. I loved the Welsh accents/language from the humans & the animals as well as the translations for those of us who are unfamiliar with it’s usage. I may just get the next book in this series to see how Beau progresses with his auntie, the Shepards, the sheep & the other farm animals.

Good story line

Being allergic to animals means we have none and although we enjoy seeing other people's, we're glad not to have the responsibility of caring for them. That being said, I didn't expect to like a book about animals and stories about them experiencing the same situations humans do. I'm glad to say that the opposite was true! I enjoyed this book a lot! The animals were captivating and relatable and the story was one that kept me engaged. Am so glad I decided to give this book a try! I'm looking forward to reading the next one!
