Maybe short sighted

This book may be short sighted about the possible future capabilities of ai. It was still enjoyable to listen to though.

Hard to define AI, I guess…

I agree with previous comments:
-scattered: it goes in every direction by mixing AI with pretty much everything: space, economics, Internet…but also philosophy, cinema etc…to the point that it feels it needs to also describe each of these themes, which prevents it from going deep into the original topic of AI.
However, maybe the concept of AI itself is scattered by essence: it must be difficult to give a direction to the concept of intelligence.
-sometimes a bit boring somewhat, maybe due to the reader’s voice that sounds a bit like a 1930’s radio news anchor.

AI is only in its INFANCY.

Liked “since the beginning of time” approach with validation AI never possibly come close to being as intelligent as humans.

Recommend audible book to anyone for validation that AI has always been mostly HYPE, just like politics and government (over promise and no results).

Rated it average because although interesting, it was too long, repeated constantly, just to boil down to AI is useful in only very limited areas like medicine and repeatable tasks like assembly line car production…. but even then only in its INFANCY!

Terribly read

I see the irony of an AI reading this, but the joke ruined the book. The monotone and repetitive voice made it impossible to concentrate on the book.

Boring

My first question would be to the audio production company. Exactly how long did it take you to find the world’s most boring reader? For an audio book that is the most important position. No amount of outstanding material and prose can make up for that.
But this book is far from outstanding. But I didn’t expect much. It is a “for dummies” book after all. Aimed at the public for increase sales. Only slightly higher bar than the “for idiots” series. Though in this case a better title would end with “by idiots”. But when you look up the authors, the primary author (John Paul) isn’t an expert at anything he just finds some poor soul and writes a book for them. But he is likely to blame for the repetitive material, the poor organization, and missing the checking factor stage since that is what he does. The other author has bounced around and claims to be a developer of machine learning. But developer is just code for someone who writes code- the blue collar employees in the industry. Not the brains behind it.
The book takes great liberty with including as forms of automation into the topic of AI. Which just can’t true. You do not need ai to build a controller as these two would have you believe. Their worst crime would be in trying to set off the third ai winter with their gloom and doom predictions. They totally miss what is really going on in the industry and in research labs throughout the world
I am so happy I did not contribute to their income

The information provided.

I like the fact that the information provided is up to date. I found the narrator tone annoying

But what about AI?

I was expecting the book to teach me about AI.
Explain something complicated, but slowly.
Instead, it didn’t. Only a small percentage is about AI. Most of it is about humans.

How can you make AI boring?

I am just guessing it's because this book is a bit dated, but wow, I couldn't get through it. I think the speaker didn't help. How dry!

Generall information about AI

Good book for complete beginners and people that what to build a foundation of conceptual knowledge about the subject. Does not go into too much technical depth but gives a broad overview of the field.
