About this listen

From the oven it came...smelling like apples, cinnamon, and love.

Everyone adores Miss May, except the guilty.

In a small town where neighbors know each other, lawn chairs come out in the spring; if you sit around chatting long enough, someone brings you pie; and there are still skeletons in every closet.

Luckily for Pine Grove, Miss May has a nose for crime.

The body was found face-down in the orchard.

Chelsea’s not sure crime-fighting is her strong suit. She’s up at her Aunt May’s farm, recovering from heartbreak, after all, trying to forget the guy who left her at the altar. But when cousin Maggie’s fiancé is murdered, Chelsea’s own botched wedding seems like less of a big deal.

Who would have killed him?

The handsome and charming Detective Wayne thinks it’s Maggie.

Miss May and Chelsea know he’s wrong, but they don’t have proof. There’s a killer on the loose in their little town, and they’re determined to find the culprit.

Who had motive?

You'll adore this clean cozy mystery because everyone loves small-town mysteries with comedy, suspense, and yummy food.

Engaging

I bought this book in preparation for a long drive and finished in a single day. The narrative was engaging, the prose descriptive, and the characters well developed. Jill Smith, the voice actor, delivered a delightful reading of the story. I appreciated this novel as a refreshing escape from the busyness and stress of everyday life.

Another “Cozy Mystery “ with a female main character too stupid to pour water out of a boot.

We are supposed to believe Chelsea, our leading lady was a successful designer in New York yet she is incapable of making a simple sentence or modulating her voice ?
The first handsome man she meets after a painful breakup, is a detective (surprise) and she actually drools yes, down her chin over him.
The family farm and guest venue, property of an Aunt without charm or manners seems to run itself .
The description of adult sisters disagreeing “ Mules in a mud wrestling competition “ is not witty nor a believable description
The performance was well done.
Thankfully short.
