Paul Van Doren is the founder of Vans - the shoe company beloved by skateboarders, creatives, and fans everywhere for its laid-back, colorful SoCal vibe, and famous for its people-oriented company culture. How did Van Doren establish a family shoe business that evolved into a globally recognized brand with annual revenue of more than four billion dollars? A blue-collar kid with no higher education and zero retail experience, Van Doren leveraged a knack for numbers, a genius for efficiency, and the know-how to make a great canvas tennis shoe into an all-American success story.

Titan is the first full-length biography based on unrestricted access to Rockefeller’s exceptionally rich trove of papers. A landmark publication full of startling revelations, the book indelibly alters our image of this most enigmatic capitalist. Born the son of a flamboyant, bigamous snake-oil salesman and a pious, straitlaced mother, Rockefeller rose from rustic origins to become the world’s richest man by creating America’s most powerful and feared monopoly, Standard Oil. Branded "the Octopus" by legions of muckrakers, the trust refined and marketed nearly 90 percent of the oil produced in America.

Much has been written about him, but until now we've only had his songs as clues to his experience from the inside. In Scar Tissue, Kiedis proves himself to be as compelling a memoirist as he is a lyricist, giving us a searingly honest account of the life from which his music has evolved.

Publisher's summary
Former employees of Adidas and Puma will remember for a long time what the first dozen years of fierce competition between the two brothers looked like. A rivalry that left its mark on the life of the entire Herzogenaurach, where they came from and where they founded the company Adolf and Rudolf Dassler.
How did this emotional conflict arise? Who are the founders of companies that currently employ nearly 70,000 people worldwide and generate sales of tens of billions of euros? What actions were the feuding siblings willing to take in order to be in the first place in the race for success?
The history of the Adidas and Puma brands is an extraordinary story about passion opposed to the will to profit. About dreams that were undermined by Hitler's rise to power. It is also a chronicle of the history of world sport from the interwar period to the present day and at the same time a fascinating record of how professional sport was formed.
Portraits of Adolf and Rudolf will emerge from the saga of the Dassler family - two different personalities, and their duel will turn out to be a clash between an enthusiast of creating shoes in which innovative solutions are used, with a man with the mentality of a businessman and a sales representative. Who came out victorious, and how did he do so, in this fraternal game? The answer to this question will not be simple and obvious....

After months of interrogations, he was sent to the US military prison at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, as one of its first prisoners. Like the nearly 800 other men imprisoned at Guantanamo, Adayfi didn’t know why he was imprisoned or for how long. He had never seen a skyscraper and couldn’t imagine what the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center looked like, much less how they were destroyed.

It is also a story of Texas politics and power that led the good citizens of the town of Temple to enable a demon who was their worst nightmare.

Story
Experience a bold take on this classic autobiography as it’s performed by Oscar-nominated Laurence Fishburne. In this searing classic autobiography, originally published in 1965, Malcolm X, the Muslim leader, firebrand, and Black empowerment activist, tells the extraordinary story of his life and the growth of the Human Rights movement. His fascinating perspective on the lies and limitations of the American dream and the inherent racism in a society that denies its non-White citizens the opportunity to dream, gives extraordinary insight into the most urgent issues of our own time.

Definitely a must have!
Objective and interesting;) A good story that shows that the only way to go out with the family is in the pictures :-) It's nice that it shows not only how the power of the Dasslers was born, but also under what circumstances it happened :) I'm an Owens fan, so I was glad that there was also a place for him in this book. The further story of Adidas and Puma was also a plus, I learned a lot of new things. The voice of the voiceover fits very well with the story about these two companies. I recommend!
