About this listen

While their men fight, America's women produce what's necessary for victory. In a Michigan shipyard, four female co-workers forge a strong bond of friendship that, combined with faith, helps them to overcome oppression, despair, and tragedy - and find love in unlikely places.

Written from four diverse viewpoints, A Woman's Place is an emotionally rich glimpse of life in World Ware II America.

Lynn Austin's three Christy Awards include one for Hidden Places, which was made into a popular Hallmark film.

Austin's work here is deep, thoughtful, and very well crafted. An absolute pleasure to listen to. Once you start, you don't want to stop. The characters are engaging, and each one is a favorite with a compelling story of their own. I think this is one of Austin's best. The narrator did a fabulous job as well; really capturing the qualities the of characters.

This story of four very different women and what happens in their lives as they live out WWII is another example of Austin’s wonderful gift of educating the reader to the realities, adjustments and challenges in the lives of people during great historical times.
I was so impressed by Christina Moore's narration of the book. Her ability to speak life into this story with her different voices was amazing. She is excellent!

Interesting read takes place during WWII. How it effects the lives of women going to work and building. They faced hardships by some of the men.
Lots of food for thought.

The only thing I don't like about Austin's books is the fact that when they finish I'm very disappointed! This was so good I want a sequel. I got so wrapped in each character that I want to follow their lives. Ugh!

Just one bad thing

The story line was compelling, believable, and carefully researched, and the narration was flawless! I adored the ending and just wished the story would have gone on a little longer.
