Acerca de esta escucha

Marie Bostwick weaves the unforgettable story of four very different women whose paths cross, changing their lives forever.

It’s a long way from Fort Worth, Texas, to New Bern, Connecticut, yet it only takes a day in the charming Yankee town to make Evelyn Dixon realize she’s found her new home. The abrupt end of her marriage was Evelyn’s wake-up call to get busy chasing her dream of opening a quilt shop. Finding a storefront is easy enough; starting a new life isn’t.

Little does Evelyn imagine it will bring a trio like Abigail Burgess, her niece Liza, and Margot Matthews through her door. Troubled and angry after her mother’s death, Liza threatens to embarrass her aunt Abigail all over town unless she joins her for quilting classes. A victim of downsizing at the peak of her career, Margot hopes an event hosted by the quilt shop could be a great chance to network—and keep from dying of boredom.

As they stitch their unique creations, Evelyn, Abigail, Liza, and Margot form a sisterhood they never sought—but one that they’ll be grateful for when the unexpected provides a poignant reminder of the single thread that binds us all.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes, it's heartwarming and shows that people of different decades can be good friends. However, I found some of the characterizations to be stereotyped, especially the wealthy.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I would have gotten a different voice for Abagail.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Absolutely. I could barely listen to Abagail. She's supposed to be 62? I'm in my 60's and know many women my age. None of us sounds that old. We sound more like Evelyn. The author must be very young.

Could you see A Single Thread being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Probably a Hallmark.

Any additional comments?

Too bad. It was a heartwarming story, but I really had trouble getting past the narration.

Abagail sounds like she's in her 80's, not 62!

If you like quilting and girlfriends and stories of courage through adversity, then this is your book. I enjoyed it, but don't think I'll get the sequels.

Lovely touching story

This story told from the point of view of two different characters and read by two different people was completely engrossing. The characters completely involved me in their struggles. I cheered and wept with them throughout. I will look for another book by Marie Bostwick!

Delightful listen

Good book with well developed characters. The narration was good. All in all, a good light listen to pass the time, especially if you're a quilter (as I am) and enjoy hearing about other womens "bees" and quilting friendships.

Nice, light listen

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

It was just ok as far as the story goes. It was a feel good story and I knew what was coming with each new issue. There is nothing bad about the story, but it was boring in my opinion. The performance by the readers was really good and kept me interested.

What could Marie Bostwick have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I just don't like stories of this nature so probably nothing.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

I would like the movie better so yes I would.

Chic Flick!

This is a wonderful story about the threads of women and their lives. The good, bad and ugly. It is a story of hope and joy and laughter. It will remind you of your past and maybe of some dreams you put down. It is the first book in a series Coble Court.
