Takes me away....

I have listened to countless audiobooks and I have really enjoyed The Summer Girls. I bought it on a whim and did not know it was a series so when it ended, I was NOT happy. Fortunately, there are two more in the series so I'm about to start the second.
The narration is peaceful to me and portrays the characters brilliantly, keeping my attention the entire time (which is saying a lot considering I get side tracked easily). The story is beautiful, light and I can't wait to find out what happens next. I've fallen in love with the characters!

I’ve heard it before

I love this author usually but this time it felt like something I’ve heard before. Not only that the narrator wasn’t someone I wanted to listen to for long.

I feel like the story's not done yet

I can't recall if this is one of a series but I felt like the ending was somewhat abrupt and all the storylines are still a bit hanging. Of the 3 sisters, the development was a bit uneven, most of the story concentrating on one of the 3, and the other 2 were less developed.
A good story, especially if you like wildlife and want to learn many fun dacts about dolphins!

Narration

I've read many of the author's books and usually very much enjoy them.
Mary Alice Monroe (the author) narrates this book - her southern accent is....annoying and not very southern.
The story is ok - but found myself irritated by the accent. So it may not be fair to review the storyline
as I kept correcting her pronunciation - out loud!

Best book EVER!!

What a phenomenal story/realistic and captivating!! Must READ SERIES BY AUTHOR!
I loved this book more than any of the over 80 titles in my library.

Entertaining/enlightening.

A very good story and a wonderful lesson of the consequences of interacting with wild life. the story held my attention,but left so many questions in answered. I want more. will there be a box set anytime soon. thank you for the opportunity to listen and learn.

great family story

loved all the characters. each one was special and added to the story .most enjoyable.

Audible recording unfinished, editing needed. Otherwise an enjoyable book to listen to. Hoping to read others from the author.

Nice summer read but a few things drove me crazy

This was a great book overall. I think it's a great summertime read - a perfect book to take with you on the beach. But, a few things really drove me crazy and kept taking me out of the moment.

First, while the narrator was great in general, I don't understand why she kept calling the grandmother "mama" and and in text it was spelled "mamaw" and anyone who knows anything about the south knows it's pronounced with the W at the end. It was weird.

The dolphin story line was great, but it went a little too far, especially with the facts after the story ended. It was overkill and made me feel like I was reading National geographic instead of a light summer read.

The absolute worst thing about the book was the post production errors in editing. I think there were at least 35 - maybe more errors in the audible recording. These are places where the author read a sentence one way then read it slightly differently, but they didn't delete one of the sentences in post production. Or there was a word flub then she repeated the word properly, and they left the flub. I have listened to hundreds (and hundreds) of books and I've never encountered anything like this before. It didn't have the feel of a second rate book or narration so I don't understand why or how that could've happened. Very strange.

Love this series

Love this book so much cannot wait to read book 2 and three. I’m Hut what’s going to happen next thank you.
