About this listen

Fairy and law enforcement agent, Dulcie O'Neil, finds her life is pretty boring at the moment. Her hunky boyfriend and boss, Knight Vander, is busy setting up the new world order in the Netherworld and hasn’t been around much. Consequently, Dulcie is put in charge of Headquarters for the ANC (Association for Netherworld Creatures). Unfortunately for her, she doesn’t have a whole lot to keep her occupied. Well, that is, until Jax Rochefort storms into Headquarters and her life.

Jax, who’s a member of one of the most infamous illegal potions rings, ups and turns himself in with little to no explanation. Dulcie takes it upon herself to solve the riddle of Jax Rochefort, all the while trying to dodge his obvious advances. Dulcie learns that the new Netherworld government is threatened by the potions cartels, who wish to see their own in power.

Things heat up when Jax kidnaps Dulcie, all the while claiming to be following orders for his mysterious boss. After discovering that everyone she cares about is directly in the line of fire, Dulcie must do everything in her power to ensure their safety as well as the security of the new Netherworld government.

pretty good

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Going in, I really didn't know this was a series, let alone that this was book 7. That being said, this seemed to stand alone rather well. It took me a little time to get comfortable with the world and the main characters, but I was able to do so, and found I really liked it. This book

Narration horrible

I didn’t even make it through the whole book. I might try to but the ebook and read it that way but the narration killed it.

jumping in at Volume 7...

I started this series on Volume 7 and the heat was turned up by chapter 3! whew! Enjoyed Kate Tyler's narration and the way she brought the characters to life. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

A Midsummer Night’s Scream

This is my first book in this series and it’s easy enough to follow as a stand alone but I did feel some things are missing from the story since I have not done the series. And there is a big cliffhanger at the end. The story is nice, but I felt like parts of it are drug out, and some of the male characters tend to act like adolescent boys over the leading lady. All they want to discuss is what they want to do to her sexually. No trying to entice her wine/dine her. The narration is very nice and easy to listen to! Changed Narrators

Bring back previous narrator. This one is so monotone and no emotions in her reading. Previous narrator kept me riveted to the book. This one literally sounds like the computer reading to me!

A Little Sassy With a Strange Ending

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

The story is fast moving and completely centered on the protagonist. The other characters are just complementing her antics. I found the tone of the narration a little too snotty and the characters acting somewhat spoiled at times. It is not a book that you want to read on its own as it ends abruptly without any definite conclusion. The author invites you to listen to the next chapter in a new book for that purpose. Not a standalone book for sure, which I much prefer even when part of a series. That said, the writing is fun and fast-paced and the narration could be a little less sassy, but otherwise good.

Paranormal creatures and adventure

A Midsummer Night's Scream
The Dulcie O'Neil Series, Volume 7
By: H. P. Mallory
Narrated by: Kate Tyler
This is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary.
I enjoyed this book, it had the paranormal fun I like but it ended in "to be continued" which I didn't like.
This book has pixies, fae, werewolves, vampires, and more. It has action, romance, adventure, and sexual situations so think 18+. I was thinking this is going to be a 4 star book but then when it just stopped and said, "to be continued", well I hate cliffhangers!
The narrator was great! She made the voices wonderful! All the men, creatures, or women! Great performance!

Should not have changed reader

This is supposed to be a romantic comedy. The first several books were just fine. They switched to a new reader who makes it sound like an overdone book for a child. It’s extremely annoying.

Missing Original Narrator

The story line as usual is great but the narrator doesn’t lend the needed aspects that Therese added through her skills at making the individual characters have very different voices. That skill really makes a difference in an audio presentation.
