About this listen

This letter is the closest that Kafka came to setting down his autobiography. He was driven to write it by his father's opposition to his engagement with Julie Wohryzek. The marriage did not take place; the letter was not delivered.

Terrible narrator

An American cowboy reading Kafka. Awful. He totally destroyed this great piece of literature. Kafka will shudder and
turn around in his grave.

Background music is a distraction

Bellow expectation. Frank Kafka has written much better than this one. The audio didn’t help either.

What’s up with the background music?

This sounds like an old man reading this while some electronic music played in his house, recorded on a phone. It’s crazy how lo fi this is. DO NOT BUY

What is happening with this Audio?!

Whaaaat?! There's constant electronic background music, a terrible narrator and audio quality. I do not understand how this is even available here. Please pull it out!

Good story - TERRIBLE READING

Franz Kafka is a fascinating read for anyone. I often use Audiobook while reading along with the text. This helps me get through books faster than if I were to read them on my own, but this reading is horrid. I never imagined that you'd be able to ruin the beauty of Kafka's writing, but this reader managed to do so.

The narrator, Deaver Brown, frequently stumbles, has to re-read pieces of the text, and seems to have to sound out words, like a first grader.
For whatever reason, Deaver Brown decided that was a great idea to add some background music. When done tastefully, and properly, this can enhance a reading, but this music hard drums and techno sounding crap. My attention was continually divided between trash music, and horrible narration.

Terrible. DO NOT BUY THIS AUDIOBOOK. Audible should really consider eliminating him as a narrator.

Absolutely horrible. Scam. Techno/electronica background to narration. Please remove all audiobooks from this narrator / publisher.
