Narrator Gregory is up to the task.

Dostoyevsky’s words matter. There are no car chases or sex scenes. His stories are a psychological and philosophical examination of life, which can be ruined by a reader who doesn’t “get it”. I purchased 2 versions

Not to be missed

Great novel read by a great narrator. Only the very end gets instantly cut by the “Audible hopes you have enjoyed....” destroying the atmosphere. I wish audible would do something about that. Ruins every ending in my opinion.

Dostoevsky Delivers

The reading of this is beautiful. The story is intense, somewhat disjointed but fully engaging and revealing of the artificiality of 19th century Russian society. It is long and has a some rather confusing tangents along the way and many characters to keep straight, but I can see why Dostoevsky considered it his best work.

Spellbinding

The novel is wonderfully complex, as are many of Dostoyevsky’s, but the magic lies in Constantine Gregory’s narration and sublime interpretation of the characters. Bravo!

Amazing writing

I enjoyed the humor intertwined with the heavy tale. The performance was outstanding. Russian to English with remarkable translation. Simply amazing. Read it, listen to it!

A Long Story!!

This is a classic, of course, and with good reason! Quite an epic that says so much, I’m afraid I was only able to grasp a fraction of it! Not to mention all the Russian names to keep track of (I couldn’t!). Nonetheless, obviously written by a Master wielding a mighty pen.

Bears listening to more than once and reading it in print would probably be most helpful toward gaining a deeper understanding. One could spend a lifetime studying this tomb!!
