About this listen

Giant Spiders. Death Ray Guns. Personal Flyers. Cannibals. Sword Fights. From the fertile mind of Edgar Rice Burroughs comes the tale of A Fighting Man of Mars. Hadron of Hastor sets out to rescue a lovely kidnapped woman he believes he is in love with. Along the way, his adventures among the little-known ancient cities of Mars, his comradeship with a brave warrior-woman named Tavia, and their struggle together against the hordes of a cunning monarch, make for an exciting classic science fiction adventure.

Edgar Rice Burroughs is renowned for his many novels of fantastic adventure. Unquestionably, his best-known creation is that of the jungle hero, Tarzan the Ape Man. Still, his stories of other planets like Barsoom, his fictitious name for Mars, and Pellucidar beneath the Earth's crust are almost as well known. By 1911, Burroughs began to write fiction after seven years of low wages as a pencil-sharpener wholesaler. He had copious spare time during this period and started reading pulp-fiction magazines. In 1929, he recalled thinking," If people were paid for writing rot such as I read in some of those magazines, I could write stories just as rotten. Although I had never written a story, I knew absolutely that I could write stories just as entertaining and probably a whole lot more so than any I chanced to read in those magazines."

Is good

Sometimes predictable sometimes annoying but overall a good story and narrative performance. Three more words.
