Embark on an exciting, adventurous, and dangerous journey through the galaxy with the motley crew of the spaceship Wayfarer in this fun and heartwarming space opera - the sequel to the acclaimed The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet.

Lovelace was once merely a ship’s artificial intelligence. When she wakes up in a new body, following a total system shutdown and reboot, she has no memory of what came before. As Lovelace learns to negotiate the universe and discover who she is, she makes friends with Pepper, an excitable engineer, who’s determined to help her learn and grow.

Together, Pepper and Lovey will discover that no matter how vast space is, two people can fill it together.

The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet introduced listeners to the incredible world of Rosemary Harper, a young woman with a restless soul and secrets to keep. When she joined the crew of the Wayfarer, an intergalactic ship, she got more than she bargained for - and learned to live with, and love, her ragtag collection of crewmates.

A Closed and Common Orbit is the stand-alone sequel to that beloved debut novel and is perfect for fans of Firefly, Joss Whedon, Mass Effect, and Star Wars.

Soul piercing, emotionally beautiful book🤗

First off this book was amazing and the narration was perfect. Becky Chambers has a way of tugging on my heart strings like few others and has me in tears every time i get into any of her work, in the best way possible. That being said i agree with some of the other reviews on here in that i wish i could have seen a continuation of our lovable crew aboard the tunneling ship from the previous book. Maybe make this book 1.5 and carry on the original storyline as it goes and seeing as she enjoys writing from different perspectives, always have that middle book to exploit that aspect of her talent but also give us readers what we want which is a continual block of characters that we can depend on always being there for us when we need the comfort they bring. Again dont get me wrong, this book was every bit as beautiful as the first and had some amazing vulnerable moments and great characters to connect and get attached to but we know their story wont be continued. It almost makes me feel a bit abandoned never being able to hear new adventures from the characters i fell in love with. It makes the endings that much more sad. This book picks up the storyline of lovelace the AI as pepper takes her to her home in her new body and the book switches from being told from her POV and peppers when she was a child and gives us the story of how she became who she is. i cant express how touching and sweet this telling is and how plausible and realistic she makes this entire world as well as the goings on and the actions of our beloved characters. Its very rare indeed that i come across an author of such talent that checks alllll the boxes so surely as Becky Chambers does. Im so greatful to her so dont misunderstand, this book and the others in this series are wonderful and Id highly suggest them to anyone inquiring but i would like some continuation of any of the amazing storylines shes started up... please🙏 ?

This is for Becky Chambers

We need to find out what happened with the Wayfarers. You can’t just leave us hanging like this. It’s like reading fanfic and then 60 chapters in you find out that they stopped posting and didn’t finish the story.

What it means to be human and finding your place

This book felt slower than the previous book (The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet) because it bounced between two characters so the story had more room to grow each.

Like the previous book, this is much more a story of characters and what it means to be human by seeing things through the eyes of aliens and AIs. It is a sci-fi universe, but the sci-fi is just a backdrop - if you are looking for hard sci-fi and meditations on tech you will probably not like this book.

I knew where the story was going, but I enjoyed the ride. Chambers writes a world full of interesting people and aliens and it was very satisfying when the pieces fell in place.

(satisfying enough that I felt compelled to write an actual text review!)

Absolutely Recommend!

I was so glad to find another book by this author was in audiobook form. This book did not disappoint even though it was not about the core cast I'd gotten familiar with in "The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet." Wonderful character development and a fantastic vocal performance. My only gripe was the inconsistency in the pronunciation on alien species names but that is a super super superficial gripe!

Heartbreaking

You’ll understand, once you have read it. Very rarely have I been so emotional during a book.

I was so hoping for this story after book1

I was so hoping this story was going to be the one I really wanted to hear after listening to book one, and it was but way more. The characters are really good, and how the characters start and end was really well done. I am on book three currently. Looking forward to other audio books by this author and also the narrator.

Held my attention

Easy read, interesting characters, a bit different than what I expected. Given the reviews I was pleasantly surprised. On to the next book in the series.
