It was okay

So many awards, I was stoked! But, unfortunately for me, this was one of those books that I just kept waiting and waiting for it to pick up and get better, but it never did. My mind kept wandering and I kept thinking, Do I even care? Super-bummed.

I enjoyed it!

it took me a few chapters ' I started over.
finished it in 3 days.

the narrator did a great job distinguishing between characters ' subtle inflections and what not.

Great news sci-fi.

Really different. With beings with more than one body. Excellent book. I appreciate the change from so many sci-fi.

What a performance!

Great story. The performance definitely took the story to new heights. The breadth of tone that Adjoa Andoh portrayed was significant and pulled me much deeper into the story.

Story and narration are amazing! I love this series--so happy with the choice of narrator.

In the end all was ok

It took me a long time to get into this one. The beginning is plodding and a little disorienting, but once the storylines merged it got much more enjoyable. I can see why this series has garnered so many awards.

Political and slow

I purchased this expecting a bit of a space-romp action flick. Instead it's a deep social commentary on politics and empires.

I have never heard a narrator perform so many accents and distinct voices, if there were 6 stars I'd give that.

The story was a bit confusing for me to listen to, due to the continual use of same-gender pronouns for almost everyone.

Amazing story and performance

Fabulous narration, amazing story. I didn't like it at first but it turns out that you're not supposed to like it. It's describing an opening scenario that is upsetting to basically everybody, all made your characters in you included.

once I got into it I understood why the beginning was like it was and the story is incredible and innovative and thought-provoking. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Didn’t do it for me

I listen to a ton of sci-fi and fantasy. For some reason this just didn’t click for me. The atmosphere, for lack of a better word, was too bleak. I don’t mean the story line, because I can do bleak stories, it just felt flat. But I know those who love this series. To each their own.

Excellent Speculative Fiction

I started to write “science fiction” above but realized in many ways what’s presented in Ancillary Justice is closer to speculative than science.

The production of the audio book was phenomenal. Narrator did an excellent job.

Story was beyond phenomenal I think. One of the greatest explorations of what it means to be alive I’ve ever read. Not sure “alive” Is the correct word but can’t think of a better.
