About this listen

Over the past few years, Brianna Wiest has gained renown for her deeply moving, philosophical writing. This new compilation of her published work features pieces on why you should pursue purpose over passion, embrace negative thinking, see the wisdom in daily routine, and become aware of the cognitive biases that are creating the way you see your life.

Some of these pieces have never been seen; others have been read by millions of people around the world. Regardless, each will leave you thinking: This idea changed my life.

A catalyst from feelings to being

This book was a catalyst each time I listened to it…because it was about truly looking at feelings and what they don’t and do mean in the moment you are having them…and to move beyond them and learn to manage them when you are in those horrid moments of scary emotions steeped in fear. This book leads to immediate and actionable inner work in mere sentences. This book is the most helpful book I have ever listened to—I will continue re-listening to this amazing work. One more thing, the references to the deep-thinkers that I admire was astounding and motivating and let me know I am on the right track: Alan Watts, Dr Weil, Rumi, Oscar Wilde to name a few. As soon as I complete this review, I am restarting this audio book. Yes, it’s that helpful. I highly recommend LISTENING to this book on speaker if you find yourself pacing with uncertainty. I am working through a scary time as I type and this book has helped me on my current “journey”. And let’s face it, who LIKES the journey while you are IN IT. Heh.

I really enjoyed the book, however...

The book as far as the information was great, really enjoyed it. How ever, was all of the swearing needed? In my opinion the book was good and would have been great without all the foul language!

Deeply rooted Zen words !

To the point but deeply rooted in Truth, I could listen to this over and over again and still learn something new each time … I do love the narrator’s voice too …

Thoughtful, yet exhausting use of questions

Worth listening, but many 'essays' are just rapid fire thought provoking questions with no answers.

It can feel like long list after long list (as long as 101 questions/statements). There's no time to process and reflect. To really get anything to stick, be prepared to pause often, or get the hard copy to go back to.

I would've rather had more thoughtful commentary and fewer questions.

Great questions though, just hard to get the full potential if you're listening in the car and can't journal as you go.

Amazing….

My first read from Brianna Weist…her way of getting across what she has learned is so easy for me to see for myself. Her podcast is awesome as well.

The best non clinical self help motivational book

I am definitely buying the print version of this book, I'm going to be revisiting it often! So many valuable questions and lists, really well done and thought provoking.

YOU

To hear something so eye opening about something you can relate yourself to so much. And even others. It’s so wild to have something help you realize you and others difficulties about thinking. Absolutely amazing!
