To be utterly heartbroken and god-forsaken
Reviewed: 03-22-24
This book was recommended to me based on the topic of grief and struggling with how God allows tragedy. I keep reading certain parts over and over because they speak to me deeply. Very good work by someone whose work I’ve already admired.

Story
Psychiatrist Dr. Gwen Moore is an expert on killers. She’s spent a decade treating California’s most depraved predators and unlocking their motives - predators much like the notorious Bloody Heart serial killer, whose latest teenage victim escaped and then identified local high school teacher Randall Thompson as his captor. The case against Thompson as the Bloody Heart Killer is damning - and closed, as far as Gwen and the media are concerned. If not for one new development.

Story
When the call came it seemed like the answer to my prayers. My career as a voice actor had been over for months and me and my little girl Scarlet were living back at my mum’s place. I felt like a failure professionally—and with Scarlet having problems at school, as a parent as well. So, when I was asked to narrate a new book by disappeared novelist Philippa Roberts I jumped at the chance, even if it meant leaving Scarlet with my ex, Hugo, for a few weeks. Hugo, with his perfect new home and his perfect new girlfriend Saskia. But this isn’t a dream come true. It’s a nightmare.

Peter and Ainsley are a train wreck of a couple, I'm HERE FOR IT! The Amendment led us right to this Atonement, and if you've noticed anything about the couple, they're not going down without a fight! Very good way to complete the trilogy.
