Story
Rob Schneider’s childhood in the San Francisco Bay area with parents of mixed-race backgrounds shaped his view of the world: that America afforded the greatest opportunity for peoples from all nations and all faiths. Now, Rob keeps finding himself in controversy in Hollywood for expressing a few commonsense opinions about what woke ideology is doing to our great nation. With humor, Schneider takes on the current neoliberal authoritarians in America and argues we are living under a new kind of tyranny.

I ordered the autographed book earlier this year, but I've not had time to sit and read, so I downloaded this one. it was NOT a mistake.
This was a truly enjoyable and inspiring book, and I recommend it to liberals and conservatives alike.

The story line is fun. Most of the characters are fun. Female reader is outstanding. Make narrator is over top 80% of the time, and doesn't chill until about the 4th book.
75% of the narative sounded like it was read by the main characters from Bill & Ted, or Wayne's World. Over the top doesn't begin to describe it.

I enjoyed the characters and the story line. I was laughing quite a bit while listening to this story.
What I didn't care for was when the 2 characters (1 male, 1 female) were talking, the "he said, she said" was a bit cringy... obviously she said it if the female character's voice uttered the words.
But that's being nit-picky, and overall, a wonderfully enjoyable book.
I'm looking forward to more adventures with Alex and his band of misfits.

Story
I'd known my fair share of tragedy in the last year. Lost my family, abandoned by my friends... things were looking down. Imagine my surprise when I get ripped out of my own reality and forcibly enrolled in a magic school nestled between the seams of the multiverse. My new purpose? Defend all of creation against the Outer Gods and keep from dying at the hands of the Void Things. But there's something nefarious about my headmistress... something I don't trust. At least I'm not alone anymore.

Story
In 2012, on his third tour of duty in Afghanistan, an improvised explosive device left Dan Crenshaw's right eye destroyed and his left blinded. Only through the careful hand of his surgeons, and what doctors called a miracle, did Crenshaw's left eye recover partial vision. And yet, he persevered, completing two more deployments. Why? There are certain stories we tell ourselves about the hardships we face—we can become paralyzed by adversity or we can adapt and overcome. We can be fragile or we can find our fortitude. Crenshaw delivers a set of lessons to help you do just that.

Roosevelt, the boisterous and mostly beloved legendary American hero, had accused his former friend and ally, now turned rival, William Barnes of political corruption. The furious Barnes responded by suing Roosevelt for an enormous sum that could have financially devastated him.

I'm a huge TR fan, and I only knew small bits and pieces about this last major courtroom battle he fought.
I expected this to be dryer that 3 week old toast. I was greatly mistaken.
This story is brought to life by the author. I felt as if I were actually there in Syracuse in 1915.
If you are a fan of history, a fan of court cases, or a fan of Theodore Roosevelt, do yourself a favor. this book is really fun.

Dale Maharidge’s father, like many World War II veterans, never talked about “the good war”. There was just one clue to his dad’s experience as a US Marine - a portrait with a close friend that hung permanently in their home. In The Dead Drink First, Dale, now a Pulitzer Prize-winning author, recounts his 18-year quest to find and repatriate the missing remains of his dad’s buddy, Herman Walter Mulligan, 73 years after he was killed in action.

After nearly 10 years of audiobook listening, this one drove me to tears... it's such a moving story, telling of a son's love for his abusive father, and the secrets & guilt his father tried to hide his entire life.
The investigative skills of the author are very impressive.
Over all, an excellent book.
