Story
Confessions of a Grateful Pilgrim: Reflections @ 70, is the spiritual autobiography of Dr. Gary S. Maxey. In an unusually candid summary of his spiritual odyssey, he takes us all the way from his misunderstanding and rejection of God in his early childhood to his present activities as a pastor, seminary founder and writer. Confessions are certainly there, but also many reasons why he is today a grateful pilgrim with high hope for heavenly rewards. Dr. Maxey describes how he came into a dynamic walk with God at age seventeen, including his personal discovery of the meaning of holiness. He ...

Story
The Courage to Be Disliked, already an enormous best seller in Asia with more than 3.5 million copies sold, demonstrates how to unlock the power within yourself to be the person you truly want to be. Using the theories of Alfred Adler, one of the three giants of 20th-century psychology, The Courage to Be Disliked follows an illuminating conversation between a philosopher and a young man. The philosopher explains to his pupil how each of us is able to determine our own life, free from the shackles of past experiences, doubts, and the expectations of others.

Story
Hugh van Cuylenburg was a primary school teacher volunteering in northern India when he had a life-changing realisation: despite the underprivileged community the children were from, they were remarkably positive. By contrast, back in Australia Hugh knew that all too many children struggled with depression, social anxieties and mental illness. His own little sister had been ravaged by anorexia nervosa. How was it that young people he knew at home, who had food, shelter, friends and a loving family, struggled with their mental health, while these kids seemed so contented and resilient?

Story
One recent December, at age 53, John Kralik found his life at a terrible, frightening low: his law firm was failing; he was struggling through a second divorce; he was living in a tiny apartment where he froze in the winter and baked in the summer. Then, during a walk in the hills on New Year’s Day, John was struck by the belief that his life might become at least tolerable if, instead of focusing on what he didn’t have, he could find some way to be grateful for what he had.

Story
Most of us know we own too much stuff. We feel the weight and burden of our clutter, and we tire of cleaning and managing and organizing. While excess consumption leads to bigger houses, faster cars, fancier technology, and cluttered homes, it never brings happiness. Rather, it results in a desire for more. It redirects our greatest passions to things that can never fulfill, and it distracts us from the very lives we wish we were living. But it doesn't have to be this way.

The author writes with grace and dignity. The life she experienced throughout her childhood and youth is one that most cannot comprehend, yet far too many know this experience personally. Her voice is strong and reverberates loudly for those yet voiceless. Inspiring and a great resource for those who are unaware of the dark things done in religious sects all across the world. As this book tells, far too often the religious person chooses their religion over their loved one who reaches out for help.
