I tried so hard to get through this, but the wild “Russian” accent just wasn’t it. Also, the whole thing seemed cliche and unoriginal. I feel like I’ve read this book before by other others… and they did it better. 🫢

This is absolutely a top 5, maybe top 3 for me for 2024! The story has great pacing throughout and Alexis’ inner dialogue was fantastic! Great quirky and relatable FMC who has learned from childhood to only rely on herself and to trust no one. Absolutely did NOT see the twist in its entirety! I guessed maybe 30% of it?? I love when good writing can surprise and then reveal how masterfully the web of deceit/truth was cast throughout the entire book— absolutely fantastic writing!
Audio was also top notch. I recommend pairing the start with the pdf offered (or the KU book) to help lay out the world and its players, but the narrators were great!

Can’t recommend this series enough. The stories keep getting better and better, unlike other series’ that draw out and have boring parts. Didn’t seem like any dull moments in this one!

Absolutely loved this first book and am happily jumping into book two later tonight. The audio was fantastic— both get too marks from me!
I really enjoyed this twisted King Midas story. After that 3rd act reveal, I can’t wait to see where the rest of the series goes.

When it comes to wild antics, Mica is the biggest offender of them all. He's reckless, wild, and carelessly charming. I'm mortified that I find him attractive. But it doesn't matter because the guy hasn't taken a second look at me. Not once. In two years.

Good story, but…

damn, that accent is horrible.
Not a fan of the male narrator— his “girl” voice is always whiny and the accent for Mica is seriously soooooo bad. I’m struggled to finish, but I want to see where it went. Despite trying to determine if the accent was Russian, Irish or southern, I persevered and I’m glad I did.
Besides the audio part, the story had my attention and I was interested to see where it went. Parts were predictable, but overall it was a good book.
