A Wonderful Return to the World of Alagaesia
Reviewed: 01-09-24
TL;DR: I'm not sure what all the low reviews are for. Personally I believe this book is a great start for the characters of Murtahg and Thorn. They're shells of they're former selves and there would be no journey, no real story, if they start out all knowing and all powerful, I'm looking forward to what comes next!!
*Spoilers below for the first four novels*
I've been on board with this series from the VERY beginning and to me this story is a great continuation of The Inheritance Cycle series. I'm not sure if the people giving all the low reviews are forgetting that Murtahg and Thorn were unnaturally forced to become what they were in The Inheritance Cycle by Galbatorix. They were not taught the old ways of the riders as Eragon and Saphria were, they we're tortured into subservience, forced to grow faster than they would have naturally together and taught only what Galbatorix deemed necessary to use them as a weapon and not turn against him. All the power they were given was only for Galbatorix's benefit and was given back at the end of the series.
I see this story as a pair of characters that have been beaten and broken, stripped of everything they were and trying to rebuild themselves the best way they can. Murtahg HAS changed and now, with Thorn at his side, they have to figure out who they are together. They were given immense power before they were ready for it, power they did not earn and power they no longer have. They don't know what it truly means to be dragon and rider and now, powerless and hated by so many races in the land, have to try and figure it all out the hard way.
I knew from the beginning of the book that it would be a look into how the pair would grow and overcome what they were forced to be. They've never known life with each other without immense power at their fingertips so it's going to be a struggle to find themselves as a pair. Because how everyone looks down on them they are forced into doing what they have to do, (even if it's very dangerous) in a world that is very different than the one that Murtahg knew and grew up in. There might be some odd things that are out of the ordinary for the characters to do normally but that's how the author chose to handle the situation.
Again, personally I believe this is a great book that has the potential to turn into another great series. I, for one, will be looking forward to what comes next and won't hesitate to preorder the next book when it comes.

A Really Great Series
Reviewed: 05-10-22
This was a really good book series. The story was very well written, nicely paced, well narrated and hard to put down. The best comparison that I've seen for this series is something like The Da Vinci Code series, mixing a lot of real world events and terms in with science fiction and it was well executed in my opinion. Definitely glad I picked this one up!!

One of the Best Books I've Ever Read/Listened To
Reviewed: 05-04-22
I have to say that this is hands down one of the best books I've had the pleasure of reading/listening to in a very long time. Based on a time travel story it's filled with a ton of science fiction but also thrills, surprises and plot twists that make it one I couldn't put down... I'm honestly sad that it ended. It might not be for some but for me this will be one that I come back to time and time again.
Everything was on point in my opinion, the narrator did an excellent job as well as the author writing one of the best stories I've had the pleasure to experience in quite some time. If you like science fiction, mystery, edge of you seat thrills and plot twists don't hesitate to pick this up... I don't think you will regret it, I surely don't!!

Story
When Van Tudor returns to his childhood home, he inherits more than the family farm. His grandfather used to tell him fantastic stories of spacemen and monsters, princesses and galactic knights. Little did Van realize, the old man's tales were more than fiction; they were real. Hidden beneath the old barn, Van’s legacy is waiting: a starship, not of this world. With his combat AI, an android bird named Perry, Van takes his first steps into the wider galaxy. He soon finds that space is far busier and more dangerous than he could have ever conceived.

I have to say that this was a great science fiction story with some really good humor thrown in. The narration was done well and kinda reminded me of some of the old time type radio stories. I definitely suggest this to anyone to likes a good space adventure and will definitely be diving into other books in this series!!

When Dr. Louis Creed takes a new job and moves his family to the idyllic, rural town of Ludlow, Maine, this new beginning seems too good to be true. This was a good read that was hard to put down... although the final act of the story was a bit different than expected. The narrator was great and really did the story justice. I'd say that this story is more for a hard core Stephen King fan than just a casual reader IMO.

I found the journal at work. Well, I don't know if you'd call it work, but that's where I found it. It's the lost journal of Nikola Tesla, one of the greatest inventors and visionaries ever. Before he died in 1943, he kept a notebook filled with spectacular claims and outrageous plans.

This was a really good story and one that launched the career of one of the greatest horror/science fiction author's of all time. To think that this was almost lost to the world but for the saving grace of his wife's hands.
I've never seen any of the movies but this was definitely a book I enjoyed. Showing the true hell on earth that some kids have while going through their school years. Definitely a great way to start off a career as a writer!!

A really good start to a series
Reviewed: 06-01-20
I did enjoy this book and think it is a great beginning to what seems to be a well done series. I had a bit of trouble with the narrator and how fast he spoke at first, giving me some anxiety, but once I got into the book it didn't seem to be as bad. The only other complaint is the audible hiss in the recording, especially during the female narrator's readings. It was a bit distracting how the hiss would cut in and out when she would stop and start reading... but this could be the sound engineer in me showing though.
Over all a good book that I would recommend to anyone that enjoys science fiction!!

I enjoyed having some more of the back story behind actions in the game as they unfolded and it gives a complete look and feel about what is happening. I think fans of the game and even people that are just love Greek history will find this story interesting.
