Story
June Briand shot four bullets into her husband's head and was sentenced to 15 years to life. This is the shocking, true story of survival - and the intense bond June shared with her pathologically violent husband, a monster who physically and sexually tortured, degraded, and dominated her so relentlessly she refused to believe he was dead even after she killed him.

If someone in your life is causing you to question your own sanity and is driving you into the ground, don’t worry, you are not crazy, nor are you alone in the matter. Most importantly, it is not your fault! Did you know that according to National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence survey, 48.4 percent of women and 48.8 percent of men have experienced at least one psychologically aggressive behavior by an intimate partner. That’s nearly every other person!

I have mined the Internet for all the information I could find on gaslighting and narcissist abuse for the last 5 years. I think this author did, too. The only thing I did appreciate is that by using the same tired references to Donald Trump’s Gaslighting Of America as is so common in so many publications these days, this author may yet discover that Trump is just the tip of that iceberg. I would have given an extra star if she’d at least tried to be original about that. I’m glad this is such a short listen because I wasted my time listening to the same old thing. I already wish I had used my credit more wisely.

This true story was the basis for the Broadway play, The Runner Stumbles, and the movie of the same name. In 1907, a Felician nun disappeared from her rural convent. When her bones were found buried in the dirt-floored basement of the remote, Gothic church she served, it caused a national sensation. Who killed her? The handsome priest? The jealous housekeeper? And, what other secret was uncovered along with her bones?

Story
On a bitterly cold afternoon in December 1986, a Michigan State trooper found the frozen body of Jerry Tobias in the bed of his pickup truck. The 31-year-old oil field worker and small-time drug dealer was clad only in jeans, a checkered shirt, and cowboy boots. Inside the cab of the truck was a fresh package of expensive steaks from a local butcher shop, the first lead in a case that would be quickly lost in a thicket of bungled forensics, shady prosecution, and a psychopathic star witness out for revenge.

This book evoked very strong feelings in me. It makes me think in some instances it’s justice for NONE! Michigan Prosecutor Norman Hayes is a classic case of evil triumphing over right, may he rot in Hell. I hope his roommate is Debbie Palmentier. Thank God for good men like Ray MacNeil. This book is gripping!

Story
The first love in our lives is our mother. Recognizing her face, her voice, the meaning of her moods, and her facial expressions is crucial to survival. In this book, Dr. Christine Ann Lawson vividly describes how mothers who suffer from borderline personality disorder produce children who may flounder in life even as adults, futilely struggling to reach the safety of a parental harbor, unable to recognize that their borderline parent lacks a pier, or even a discernible shore.

Story
For the past twenty-five years, Margaret Atwood has written works of striking originality and imagination. In The Blind Assassin, she stretches the limits of her accomplishments as never before, creating a novel that is entertaining and profoundly serious. The novel opens with these simple, resonant words: "Ten days after the war ended, my sister drove a car off the bridge." They are spoken by Iris, whose terse account of her sister Laura's death in 1945 is followed by an inquest report proclaiming the death accidental.
