I would have to say that this is probably one of my favorite books in the entire series. It pulls a lot of pieces together. The narrator makes the story come alive. As always, I can’t wait for the next DD Warren book.

Interesting story some parts amazingly good and some parts way to melodramatic
Reviewed: 03-14-21
I enjoyed the story overall. There were parts in the beginning that I was tempted to quit listening. The narrator was ridiculously melodramatic when reading the melodramatic parts in the book. And was just too dramatic in the well written parts. Some of the writing was extremely good. And then some of it was too dramatic and soap opera-ish. There’s a part of me that would like to recommend the book and there’s part of me that wouldn’t. I hope the following books, which I plan to listen to, aren’t as stereo typical drama and too full of similes. I will say, though, I would not spend any credits on the series. But since they are included with the Audible plus plan, I will listen to them.

Best in Series in A Long Time
Reviewed: 05-06-18
I felt this was the best novel in the series in a long time. Years ago, I fell in love with the characters Sherlock and Savage. And it now seems that they are back. There was no magic, hocus-pocus or anything like that. It was just a good mystery and good relationship book. I really enjoyed the book. Often when I’m listening to a book that has a bunch of goofiness in it, I sit and mimic the narrator by going blah blah blah. I didn’t do that this book. I just enjoyed it and am ready for the next one.

Absolutely Excellent-Love the last sentence!
Reviewed: 04-17-16
After I'd started listening to the book, I looked back at some of the early reviews of The Obsession and was surprised to see descriptions like following a formula. I don't think there was a formula to the book. The subject and plot weren't every day. I'm pretty sure in my Audible library of about 1000 books, there isn't anything close. If someone doesn't like that Nora Roberts is a romance writer no matter what the subject and plot, then this book isn't for them. But if you like strong characters in a book that has romance as well, then the book is awesome.
For years, I've described Nora Roberts as an artist and her medium is words. She paints with words. I can always see the landscape, the people and their faces. I have the pictures in my mind. This story, like all her other books, develops. It doesn't describe the action, she writes the action.
So I'm not going to give it away, but the last line was my favorite of the book. I don't know about all of you, but there have been books I wanted to whip across my living room (when I had books with paper) or pretend to whip my iPhone or Kindle. This is because the ending is so unsatisfying. But The Obsession ended beautifully.
I will be recommending the book to family and friends. It is so worth the credit. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Sadly it will be another year before another Nora Robert's novel is released, as long as she never stops writing! Every spring I look forward to another great listen.

Another reviewers description of EVIL is spot on
Reviewed: 10-12-15
I thought this book was so well written that I had the "movie" playing in my head because of the narrator's excellent job. The way it was constructed was interesting and kept my attention the entire time. That said, I'm not sure I could ever listen to a book like this on a daily basis. There was so much EVIL in it. But every once in a while, there was a zinger of humor and that me chuckle aloud. Mostly it was just very heavy but so well done, I wouldn't wish I hadn't purchased it. Ms. Slaughter's Will Trent books are my favorite and wish and wish Will would return. In this book where it wasn't safe to trust anyone, I wish the characters could have called on Will to help. Anyway, this book was well worth the credit!

I loved this book. It was unbelievably long but I wish it had been longer. I've let the book float around in my mind for a while before I wrote this review. In the past, King and Maxwell were my favorites. Since this book, I've listened to Will Robie (and made me think often of Mitch Rapp and my favorite thriller/mystery author, Vince Flynn - may he rest in peace!). Anyway, I loved the Will Robie books. I really did but my mind kept wandering back to Web London and the Last Man Standing. This book made that much of an impression on me. There were so many angles to the plot and how they wove together made it interesting and hard to stop listening for 22 hours. Whatever you choose, don't let the length dissuade you from purchasing the book. I always figure a long book is just more entertainment for my credit dollars.

If I Could Have Given Negative Stars I Would Have
Reviewed: 08-21-15
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Someone that thinks a man taking advantage of a near comatose (beyond exhausted) woman is a romantic hero. He even says to himself he's a jerk while he keeps pawing her while she's sleeping. When he's doing 3rd base to her, I turned it off. It was not romantic.
What could Jill Shalvis have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Not make the "hero" a pervert as a way to build a romance.
Have you listened to any of Lillian Claire’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I don't know and I wouldn't go out of my way to listen to her. But I wouldn't avoid her narration either.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Smart and Sexy?
Every scene that was so inappropriate given the circumstances. I've listened to other Jill Shalvis books and they were enjoyable. This was uncomfortable.
Any additional comments?
If this is romance, I'd never listen again. It was akin to date rape (in the making and it could have stopped before the home run but I refused to listen to anymore).

Other Reviewers Were Right - Too Much Sex
Reviewed: 06-20-15
What would have made And I Love Her better?
Less sex. That's just about it. It was hours and hours of sex. I felt so sorry for the narrator having all the ahs, ohs, ooos, and other "scintillating" words during the repetitive sex scenes. It was truly like listening to porn.
What was most disappointing about Marie Force’s story?
That she made a good character, Hunter, from the previous books come off as a stalker. And just to make sure we, the listener/reader, didn't think he was a stalker, he'd say he wasn't a stalker. I'm pretty sure that some of Hunter's thoughts about Megan were thoughts that a real stalker would have. Anyone who has listened to Marie Force's other books know that there is too much descriptive sex. That's just her books. But usually there is a lot of story to negate porn aspect but this book didn't have that. The story was creepy. I'd like to be like another reviewer that said she was done with Marie Force's books. I, sadly, can't do that. I love the Sam and Nick in the Fatal Series too much for that and know there is another one coming out in the fall. So I will buy another. I will just chant la-la-la through the sex scenes. In this book I'd have been chanting for about 9 of the 10 hours and my family would have thought I had finally gone over the bend.
What about Christina Traister’s performance did you like?
I can't say that I did but I didn't dislike her performance either. I just felt sorry for her. Narrating the endless sex scenes had to have been horrendous to do. I just wondered if she rolled her eyes a lot.
What character would you cut from And I Love Her?
The "And I Love Her" character of Hunter and give back the decent Hunter from previous books.

I'm Enjoying Kathryn Shay's Books
Reviewed: 01-22-15
Where does Someone to Believe In rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I'm really enjoying Kathryn Shay's books. I started with the America's Bravest series and enjoyed the characters. When I decided to try the O'Neil Family series, was a little hesitant. After listening to the book, I would answer this question as middle of the pack. Mostly I enjoy most of my book choices so this isn't a mark down. It doesn't rank with my favorite books but I definitely enjoyed the emotional pulls in the book. When the final conflict started I was thinking there was no way I would forgive but Kathryn Shay's working through it surprised me and I was pleased with the ending. (That isn't true a lot of the time - when I had paper books I'd throw them across the room in frustration). :) Truthfully I was impressed with how it resolved.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I'm going to say that there was a moment in the book that moved me to nearly horrified. I know that isn't what the question is asking but... I really didn't need to hear the narrator, Jeffrey Kafer, imitating an orgasm. That just wasn't necessary and I wanted to rip my earbuds from my ears.
Any additional comments?
As the title said, I'm enjoy the author's books. So far, just after book 1, I loved the characters of the America's Bravest / Hidden Cove series better. I'm hoping the over-protective O'Neil brothers tamp it down a little but I will still listen to the entire series because I have hope that Ms. Shay will tame them, one by one.
