About this listen

Flying solo is way overrated.

Noah Fisher has worked for months to make Sky High, the most prestigious charter airline in California. He’s long overdue for a break - something involving ski slopes, cold beers, and hot ski bunny babes. The itinerary doesn’t include being hijacked by Bailey Sinclair, gorgeous widow of one of Sky High's wealthiest (ex-) clients. But here they are, and being crammed in a cockpit with the scared, stubborn, unbelievably sexy former model could get Noah in serious trouble….

Love Jill Shalvis...and this was a decent start...

I love Jill Shalvis and just finished downloading the entire Animal Magnetism series; when it was over I was so eager to continue with her other series.....well....this was a bumpy start.
The concept was what lured me in, a pilot getting held at gunpoint to take someone somewhere....bad guys chasing, treasure hidden....blah, blah-good start.... Well, my issue is that certain narrators are good, distinguishing multiple characters are key and caring you forward in the plot is the point; however, some are too "happy" or "positive" for the seriousness of the scene which then just makes you roll your eyes. This was must first hiccup but I still stuck it out because I liked the story and was invested in finding out the characters journey.
So, I enjoyed the chase, I enjoyed the traveling from one place to the next in search of something while the bad guys are chasing....my issue with it falls on the author/editor as to the main premise of - if the bad guys want some something from you, think you know where it is and are expecting you to get it, then why are they chasing you, shooting at you, slashing your tires and preventing you from getting it? The entire time I just couldn't figure that out-maybe it washouts me lol.
But I enjoyed the ride with Noah...*sigh* and am looking forward to the other "hot friends" stories next on my list! I know it must get better with knowing if all the other books of JS that I've already listened too so no fear-game on!

If I Could Have Given Negative Stars I Would Have

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Someone that thinks a man taking advantage of a near comatose (beyond exhausted) woman is a romantic hero. He even says to himself he's a jerk while he keeps pawing her while she's sleeping. When he's doing 3rd base to her, I turned it off. It was not romantic.

What could Jill Shalvis have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Not make the "hero" a pervert as a way to build a romance.

Have you listened to any of Lillian Claire’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I don't know and I wouldn't go out of my way to listen to her. But I wouldn't avoid her narration either.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Smart and Sexy?

Every scene that was so inappropriate given the circumstances. I've listened to other Jill Shalvis books and they were enjoyable. This was uncomfortable.

Any additional comments?

If this is romance, I'd never listen again. It was akin to date rape (in the making and it could have stopped before the home run but I refused to listen to anymore).
