I forgot how much of a whiner and complainer Jules can be
Reviewed: 03-29-25
I love the flow of the story especially at the beginning, the horses and the barn life. And the funny things that Jules says and thinks. However as the story goes on Jules is complaining more and more about her work situation about how she doesn't like the changes that are going on, and I find myself saying to her well then quit go find something else to do. Just quit complaining so much. There are a million people that would love to do what you're doing. you're losing sight of how good you have it. The drama is getting on my nerves from this girl. Then I remember that's how I felt when I listened to the first several books. But for some reason I just kept coming back. It's been a few years since I purchased one of these books and now I'm getting to remember why I put this series down. I get too annoyed with Jules. God bless her and I love the parts where there's not so much complaining and whining.

But when Ballard and her team move in on their suspect, they encounter a baffling web of secrets and legal hurdles. Meanwhile, Ballard’s badge, gun, and ID are stolen.

Voss's own voice would make this 5 stars
Reviewed: 10-26-23
Had I not heard Voss being interviewed on a podcast I wouldn't have purchased this audiobook. The voice of the narrator while correct and precise is not engaging at all compared to listening to Voss himself. But the information from Voss on the podcast was flat out something I must know so I didn't hesitate to make the purchase. It is amazing the difference in the speaker's style making a information compelling rather than just incredibly valuable information transmitted as if from a parts manual. 🤷♀️

Love this man's information and way of speaking
Reviewed: 07-13-23
The teacher/coach is great, but I can do without the woman interrupting him trying to finish his thoughts sometimes because it breaks the flow of his information and her depth of knowledge/experience seems not as deep as his and it feels a little annoying and I wish that I could just listen to him alone.

Yes, in certain circumstances, your "Rational Brain" can effectively "shut down" and you are at the mercy of a reptile... dry-mouthed, sweating, queasy, unable to think clearly - even though you know better. When does the Lizard Brain run the show? It can happen in any number of unfamiliar, uncomfortable, challenging, or "stressful" riding situations. But here's the thing: with the right kind of training, you can learn to manage the reptile within.

The author shares some really in-depth information that helped me switch my mind set. She shares techniques that really work. There are also parts that don't apply to me as a rider but are still good listening. I listen to this book frequently.

Story
Our brains do their best to help us out, but every so often they can be real assholes - having meltdowns, getting addicted to things, or shutting down completely at the worst possible moments. Your brain knows it's not good to do these things, but it can't help it sometimes - especially if it's obsessing about trauma it can't overcome. That's where this life-changing book comes in. With humor, patience, science, and lots of good-ole swearing, Dr. Faith explains what's going on in your skull, and talks you through the process of retraining your brain to respond appropriately....

Helpful information read to us in a nice voice. The sound/recording system sounds far away maybe not as professional sounding as it could be but you get used to it. Lots of F-bombs so if that bothers you then this won't be the book for you. Overall helpful. Also free so that is good!

Story
If you’re struggling to stay on top of your to-do list, you probably have a good reason: anxiety, fatigue, depression, ADHD, or lack of support. For therapist KC Davis, the birth of her second child triggered a stress-mess cycle. The more behind she felt, the less motivated she was to start. She didn’t fold a single piece of laundry for seven months. One life-changing realization restored her sanity—and the functionality of her home: You don’t work for your home; your home works for you.
