Disappointing

Weak book. It seemed me that the stories were missing an element of being good or that these were the stories that weren’t good enough for the reader but the author had to turn in something.

Wow, pulled it out in the end!
Reviewed: 03-03-23
The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever is one of the great Fantasy literature series. Scott Brick’s narration is responsible for elevating this series to greatness and saving this book. A significant character change occurred when Linden Avery became a weak, whining joke. It was like the old Thomas Covenant in drag; thankfully, she returned to herself with the support of Stave (Superman) and the book's exciting ending, the story was saved. The book even left a slight, tiny, itty-bitty, minuscule chance for one more series. One word, “Aftermath.”

Ataegina was an isolated world of medieval castles, varied cultures, and conquests, vibrant until the demons rose and spread relentless destruction. Swarms of lethal creatures with black husks, murderous claws, barbed tails, and dreaded “tooth-tongues” raged through the lowlands, killing 90 percent of the planet’s population. Terrified survivors fled to hidden mountain keeps where they eke out a meager existence. When a trio of young warriors discovers a new weapon, they see a chance to end this curse. To save humanity, they must fight.

Phalanx is a "Good Read." The Alien franchise lives on because of stories like this. The book has depth, drama, and excitement. I was immediately drawn in by the character's lives and their daily decisions. The book is so solid it can live on beyond the Alien saga. It is highly recommended.

Story
This is the second volume collecting all of best-selling author Larry Correia's short stories, novelettes, and novellas. Correia's novels are known for their hard-hitting, no-holds-barred action sequences, in-depth worldbuilding, and vivid characterization. Now, Correia turns to the short form to deliver stories that take no prisoner.

Weak sauce!!
Reviewed: 09-06-21
I enjoyed the first volume of Target Rich Environment because it was new, exciting and kept me engaged. I like stories when the hero is thinking fast & fighting faster. These stories were, slow, bland. Some were repeats & some were unfinished pulp. The “V” War story was a weak chapter of a story that left you hanging. Another was a “clip” with no character development. How can you have a story that that mentions Agent Franks & not fire a single shot or a “Classified ” reply made (sad)??? The introduction dialogue from the author was OVERDONE. This book seemed like a rush job that was pushed out to get a quick paycheck. I am disappointed.

The totle is better than the book or the series. The book was full of plot holes and jumps that made no sense. The book left a cliffhanger at the end which was typical of the whole series. This book and the series were done very badly.D does not bother to read this book.

Story
Imperial Intelligence couldn't find them, the Imperial Fleet couldn't catch them, and local defenses couldn't stop them. It seemed the planet-wrecking pirates were invincible. But they made a big mistake when they raided ex-commando leader Alicia DeVries' quiet home/work, tortured and murdered her family, and then left her for dead. Alicia decided to turn "pirate" herself, and stole a cutting-edge AI ship from the empire to start her vendetta. Her fellow veterans think she's gone crazy, the Imperial Fleet has shoot-on-sight orders. And, of course, the pirates want her dead, too.

Excellent story for the ages. I waited for 10 years for this book and was not disappointed. I loved the narration of the book, and the pace and inflection were spot on. If you have read the novel, you will be happy. If you have not, you will be even more pleased with this winner.

I expected a lot from this series bit got nothing but disappointment. The plot was incomplete, the characters shallow and weak. I also found the narration to be boring with several instances when the chapters blended to gather without transitions which made it confusing and difficult to follow. Nevertheless I pushed through but I am done with this series.
