Great but

I really enjoyed this story collection a lot. I knew from the description that Mr Correa wasn't the main author and just provided one short story and some editing. I lowered my expectations a little due to this. My expectations were blown away. The stories are all good in their own right. I hope others can enjoy them ad I did.

however. yes that sneaks in. These stories don't have the same kind of flow that the main stories have had. I often wondered if these writers had read about this MHI universe for more than a few sentences. some seemed as if they were tweaked a little from general settings to fit in MHI land.
so, I enjoyed these. Just would have enjoyed more if they were a better fit.

Mediocre at best, a struggle though.

The biggest struggle for me had to be the translation to English. American slang/vernacular doesn't translate well if at all to "old" languages so to speak.

It’s ok, but not a typical MHI story

These stories are based on Eastern European folklore. While interesting they take some searching on the internet to understand what is being talked about. Only true diehard MHI fans can get into it.

Czech stories

I normally shy away from these compilations. . .but it was under Larry Corriea’s aegis, so I downloaded it. Most of the stories were Monster Hunter worthy and I didn’t feel the need to fast forward any of them. I look forward to more Czech Fantom stories.

Save your credit

It's interesting, but nowhere near the style or quality ofLarry Correia's books. I would have been surprised he'd put his name on them, if he hadn't already done the same for other vaguely related tales.

Ecstatic this was brought to English

I enjoyed this anthology more than I thought I would. Since I thought I was going to really like it, that's saying something. Each of the stories was interesting and engaging. I loved learning about lesser known mythical creatures from other countries. A couple of these stories were very solidly horror without any of Correia's habit of turning horror tropes on their heads. There is at least one of these stories that demands a sequel. I wonder if we'll ever get one. I highly recommend this anthology to any fan of horror and creature feature works.

It was ok

Some stories were good and some put me to sleep
I'm a bit disappointed but I guess coming off the the Monster Hunter series my expectations were super high.

More Monster Hunter goodness

This was a great addition to the Monster Hunter series 5)2 cryptozoologist in me loved learned about European monster lore. I don’t know what other reviews were talking about when they said there was no action. It has plenty, maybe not as much as the main line books but it’s expressed multiple times that Europe handles situations more subtly than the US.

If you liked the main line books you’ll enjoy this one as a well. Plus Stephen Thorne is always a treat to listen to.

4 out of 5

Not sure if it was a cultural difference or some of the writers missed the mark, but Larry created a fantastic world and I'm here for it.

Great Content - Horrid Narrator

I like all of the stories - fantastic fit, definite different approach from the American MHI…HOWEVER….i had to stop listening after about the 4th story. The narrator is terrible. No meter. Minimum change between voices. Rhythm is…off. It is about what you get from Alexa reading on Kindle. This is the first anything from Larry I’ve found subpar, and it is entirely the narration. Read the book on this one - you’ll enjoy it more
