Story
The shocking murder of Sir Henry Claybourne leaves Regency London shaken and horror-struck. But for genteel spinster Miss Emmeline St. Germaine, the crime slices far too close to home. Just hours before the knight's death she held a dagger to him, threatening him to stay silent as she rescued a scullery maid he had procured for his pleasure. Did the man - or woman - who murdered the knight know of her visit? Her secret identity at risk, her reputation and life in jeopardy, Emmeline must solve the crime or face scandalous exposure and ruination for a crime she did not commit.

Interesting topic and storyline
Reviewed: 12-11-24
It was a very interesting storyline. At times I was frustrated with the main character's feminist views and wanted her to just like the guy already. The saying that kept me from really enjoying the book was the narrator. it was painful to listen to at times.

Story
While in Bath preparing for her upcoming marriage to Lord Darkefell, Lady Anne learns of a profoundly accurate mystic working in town whose uncanny predictions have stunned the gullible and the skeptical alike. Certain there's a harmless rational explanation for the medium's supposed otherworldly abilities, Anne's tolerance turns to defiance when the seer's dark pronouncements begin having a decidedly harmful affect on her friends - and a troubled local vicar takes his own life.

Story
After receiving a distressing letter from a friend, Lady Anne Addison wastes no time in traveling to Yorkshire to offer whatever help she can. She has no idea what she'll find there, but she certainly wasn't expecting to be met by tales of a werewolf terrorizing the area - nor the dead body she discovers upon arriving. Driven by curiosity and a keen intelligence, Lady Anne dismisses the notion of such a beast, but she's nonetheless drawn into the mysteries by the secrecy surrounding her friend and the infuriating yet enticing Lord Darkefell.

Story
It was supposed to be fun. A relaxing trip to a remote mountain retreat where there’s no phone reception. Three couples, friends since high school, are looking forward to a weekend of drinking, reminiscing and flirting. When someone suggests swapping partners, it doesn’t seem like such a bad idea. The lights will be switched off, for privacy. It’s not really cheating if you don’t know who you were with, right? But when the lights come back on, one of the men is dead. No-one can agree who was in which bedroom with whom.

Never saw that coming
Reviewed: 06-28-24
I honestly never saw that ending coming. I was a bit confused in the beginning about who was who because the characters are introduced in the past by their first name and by their last names in the present. However, eventually the pieces begin to fall together. Excellent book!

Story
When we went to bed that night, our little black dog, Santos, lay on the cabin top of our 42-foot ketch, vacating the area only in the worst weather. He touched his nose to Dorothy's face as she bent low to nuzzle him good night. His ardent eyes flared briefly - he worshiped her - then he returned to his duty. We slept easier with Santos aboard. It was his self-appointed mission to ensure that no one, friend or foe, came within 100 yards of Breath without a warning.

Unique take on the traditional cozy mystery.
Reviewed: 06-22-24
I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and the plot. It kept me interested throughout and I ended up finishing it in a few days. Author did a great job giving you enough to keep going but not too much as to give the ending completely away. I look forward to the next book in the series.

I thoroughly enjoyed the story but there were a lot of different plots going on with a lot of information. If you don't mind a bit of a history lesson that doesn't have much to do with the main character, then you will enjoy this book.
