Homicide prosecutor David Brunelle faces the most difficult case of his career. An innocent young girl is murdered in a heinous, unforgivable way. The only evidence against the killer is the full confession of his accomplice - another young girl he also victimized. But the accomplice is charged with the murder as well, which means that she has the right to remain silent. And she's so scared of the killer, she refuses to take a deal to testify against him.

Story
The first victim is attacked in her home. Tied to her bed. Forced to watch every unspeakable act of cruelty - but unable to scream. The second murder is even more twisted. Signed, sealed, and delivered with a message for the police, stuffed in the victim's throat. A fractured nursery rhyme that ends with a warning: "There will be more". For detective Jack Murphy, it's more than a threat. It's a personal invitation to play.

I loved this story but be fair warned. This book is violent and could be triggering to some. The narrator did a good job but I wish his voices were different...all the characters sounded the same.

I enjoyed each book in this collection. The narration was great. My only complaint is that throughout each book, the author didn't always use contractions, such as didn't, don't, aren't, etc., so the dialogue didn't sound natural. But I'm still moving on to the next book!

I listen to several audiobooks per week and I hate to say it, but this is the worst one I've heard all year. So many good reviews though? It just wasn't my thing I guess. I was bored to death from the beginning but I kept listening. At one point it became bearable but the last couple hours made me want to jump off a cliff. So many hours I will never get back. Ugh. At least the narrator did a good job.
